Super Strength is really interesting when you have a major jumpscare. For instance, you can grab a Vampire by their arms and kick them so hard that they get pulled off, alongside having the Vampire be flung across the room into a box of shells.
"Jesus Mary And Joseph!" I yelled as I jumped up from bed. Luna followed suit, transforming so her hands were replaced with bony claws.
"It's dead, Matt. You're fine, don't worry." Luna said. But she didn't...
"What did you say?" She asked me. "Something that you SURELY don't mean, right?"
"Huh? You just said..." I began. Then, I had a little epiphany. I've played enough video games and read enough books to know that this is the Vampire mimicking us!
"We should investigate the Vampire's body." I said, walking over to it. I picked up the lifeless body with ease, examining it closely. Luna came over to stand beside me, her sharp claws still at the ready. Damn everything being green, I couldn't differentiate anything about the Vampire!
"Get your bloody hands off me!" They suddenly said, with a heavy Scottish accent. In surprise, I dropped the armless Vampire, which Luna quickly took control of as it tried to worm away. "Oi!"
"You're not leaving here alive, Niflil-Spawn. Tell us why you are here." Luna said, holding her claws to their neck.
"I'll be damned and dead beforehand. Why should I believe a word out of you?"
"Because I have a sharp set of talons, and he's willing to bash your head in." Luna said, nodding her head towards me.
"Actually, I'm no-"
"Bloody Hell! You're with THAT thing? A Sammi?" The Vampire said in surprise. "No wonder! Fine, I'll talk, just don't sic your savage on me!"
"Excuse me?" I asked. But I was ignored.
"First off, why are you here?" Luna asked, beginning her interrogation.
The Vampire sighed heavily, resigned to its fate. "Fine, fine. I'm here for two reasons. One, I'm in search of a good meal. The corpses up front looked like a taster platter, and I figured I could sneak in, take a few wounded, and sneak out."
"So you came to us. Why?"
"Have you looked at your bloody husband? Literally! His eye is gone! He reeks of blood! An' you're not looking all that well yourself, miss." The Vampire explained, a slight edge of mischief to his voice. "What's to say you won-"
Luna allowed the tips of her talons to slightly cut into the Vampires neck.
"What's the other reason?"
"...Can't tell you that. Can't. Won't." The Vampire refused.
"Why not?" I asked, grabbing a brick to seem intimidating. "What's to say we can't slurp it up from your...brain...if I...Smashed it open?"
Not my proudest moment, in all honesty. I could have been a lot more intimidating and crafty with my response. But it did make The Vampire look on in fear towards me, which felt nice.
"You...You truly are a savage..." They said. Luna gave me a discrete thumbs-up. "Fine. I've also been sent out by my Master. It's said to be powerful, able to allow certain beings to return to life. I don' know all the details, but I can..."
"Who's your master, huh?" I asked, squatting down.
"...Nope. I-I can't tell you that. Look, Our Master wants it for his own purposes. It's not for me, if that's any help."
Luna snarled, her claws drawing silvery-looking blood from the neck wound of the Vampire.
"You're already dead," she said. "So we can make it quick and painless, or we can make it slow and agonising. Your choice. Reveal your master's identity, or the two of us will take turns. And you know how bad a Sammi is when they are angry..."
"I swear it's the truth. Please, let me go." The Vampire pleaded, fear in their voice.
I'm not an empath. I sometimes have a tough time understanding how people feel. I can get by with the big emotions, but tiny, nuanced ones? You're better off talking to a rock. But at that moment, I...kinda understood. This guy was just afraid. Vampires are immortal, if I understood their lore correctly, and can live on forever and such. But...it seemed we had given this Vampire a taste of possible death again, the prospect being brought back to their mind...And it scared them. It scared this IMMORTAL being, who thought they can't die, that they may die.
"Let him go, Luna. Please." I asked. "They're fine."
"What? Matt, do you realise what this could mean? If Vampires have somehow unified, let alone structured themselves to the point where they can send out scouts, issue orders, maybe even make a SOCIETY..." Luna said, with an almost equal amount of fear in her voice. "You do not know about what Vampires do, Matt. You do not know at all."
Then...The Vampire started laughing.
"What's so funny?" I asked him.
"Oh, you two. I understand it now. You two aren't just companions, you're bloody mates! I should have understood it from the start! Only a Sammi can withstand such a beast!" The Vampire cackled. "And let alone the IDEA that Vampires can unify! We're sooner to rip each other apart than settle down!"
"What is he talking about?" Luna asked me.
"I dunno."
"Oh, right. You're a Sammi. I have to spell it out...Alright. You," he said, pointing to me. "With your strength and fearlessness, and her," he said, nodding to Luna. "With her intelligence and cunning, the two of you could be unstoppable. She picked you because you are strong. Strong enough to fight, yes? I am also laughing because she is stupid, but smart. She says silly things. Like Vampires, dangerous creatures, bowing. You get it, aye?"
I didn't know what to make of his words. Luna and I were a good pair, we did work together well, but...I dunno. This Vampire is irritating me.
"Actually? Go ahead and do whatever, Luna. I don't care." I said, trying to process what the Vampire said.
"Oioioioi, stop!" The Vampire said as Luna began to rip their legs off.
"WHY?!" She yelled, consumed by a lust for violence.
"Because I know things," the Vampire replied. "Things that could be useful to you."
"Cut off his head, then. If he survives, I can wear him on my belt." I suggested. Like how Mimir rode on 'Kratos'' belt in 'God Of War'! Yeah! My own little Mimir!
"Ah, piss." The Vampire said as Luna ran her talons through their neck. Then, she began twisting it off, until it made a loud meat sound. Lifting it up by the braided hair, I could still see the Vampire's eyes moving around.
"Is he dead now?" I asked.
"Regrettably, no." The head said. "I'm alive...And, by technicality and circumstance, I now count as Spoils Of War."
"Hey, nice!" Luna said with a smile. "We've got a talking head now! No, we now have a figurehead!"
