Mia stepped out of her mom's car and took a deep breath. She looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings of Pinecrest High School, where she would spend her senior year. The school was much larger than her old one, and she couldn't help feeling nervous.

She walked towards the main entrance, feeling the eyes of other students on her. As she entered the building, she tried to blend in with the crowd. She scanned the hallway for her first class, English, and started walking.

As she turned the corner, she bumped into someone, spilling her books onto the floor. "I'm so sorry!" she said as she quickly started picking up her things. She looked up to see a boy, about her age, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

"It's alright," he said, giving her a warm smile. "I'm Jackson."

"I'm Mia," she replied, smiling back. She couldn't help but feel a bit flustered by his good looks.

"You're new here, right?" Jackson asked, helping her pick up her books.

"Yeah," Mia replied. "Just moved here with my mom over the summer."

"Cool," Jackson said. "I'm a junior. Maybe we have some classes together."

"Actually, I have English first period," Mia said, holding up her schedule.

"No way, me too!" Jackson exclaimed. "Looks like we're going to be classmates."

Mia smiled, feeling relieved to have made a new friend so quickly. They walked to their English classroom together and took their seats. Mia couldn't help but steal glances at Jackson throughout the class. She was intrigued by him and wanted to know more.

After class, they walked out of the room together. "Do you want me to show you around?" Jackson asked.

"I'd love that," Mia said, smiling.

As they walked through the halls, Jackson pointed out the different classrooms and told her about the school's traditions. Mia found herself laughing and smiling with him, feeling more comfortable in her new environment.

"Thanks for showing me around," Mia said as they reached her next class.

"No problem," Jackson replied. "See you later."

Mia walked into her next class feeling more at ease than she had all morning. She was grateful to have met Jackson and was looking forward to getting to know him better. Little did she know that their paths would cross again in a way she never expected.
