Mia and Jackson knew that they had to face the consequences of their actions. They had been caught in the act, and their family had been torn apart. They had been forbidden from seeing each other, and their parents were still angry and disappointed.
Mia felt like she was suffocating. She couldn't eat or sleep, and she spent most of her days locked in her room, crying. She missed Jackson so much, and she felt like her heart was breaking every time she thought about him.
But then one day, she received another message from him. It was longer this time, and it gave her hope.
"We can't give up," it said. "We have to find a way to be together. I love you, Mia."
Mia felt a spark of hope ignite within her. Maybe they could find a way to be together, no matter what their parents thought.
She started to research their options. She found articles about step-sibling relationships, and she discovered that they were more common than she had thought. She even found support groups for people in similar situations.
Mia decided to reach out to one of the support groups, and she was surprised by the response. The people in the group were kind and understanding, and they gave her advice on how to deal with her situation.
Mia and Jackson also started to talk more. They would send messages to each other every day, and they even managed to sneak in a few phone calls. They talked about their future together, and they made plans to leave their town and start a new life somewhere else.
But their plans were derailed when they received a call from their parents. They had been summoned to a family meeting, and they knew that it wasn't going to be good news.
When they arrived at the meeting, they found their parents sitting at the table, looking grim. Mia's mom spoke first.
"We've been talking," she said. "And we've decided that it's best if we separate our families. Jackson's dad and I are going to get a divorce."
Mia felt a rush of panic. She had never wanted to break up her family, but she also knew that she couldn't live without Jackson.
Jackson's dad spoke next. "We understand that you two have feelings for each other," he said. "And we can't change that. But we can't condone your relationship. We're going to have to separate you two, too."
Mia felt like her heart was breaking all over again. She couldn't bear the thought of being separated from Jackson.
But then Jackson spoke up. "I can't live without her," he said. "If you separate us, I'll run away with her. We'll find a way to be together, no matter what it takes."
Mia felt a surge of love for Jackson. She knew that he was willing to risk everything for her, and she knew that she would do the same for him.
Their parents looked at each other, and then back at Mia and Jackson. They seemed to be considering their options.
Finally, Jackson's dad spoke again. "We're not going to separate you two," he said. "But we're going to have some ground rules. You can't be alone together, and you can't show any physical affection in front of us. We'll also be monitoring your phone and computer usage."
Mia and Jackson nodded, relieved that they were able to stay together. They knew that it wouldn't be easy, but they also knew that they would do whatever it took to be together.
