Mia sat in her bedroom, staring out the window. It had been weeks since everything had come to light, and she still felt like she was walking on eggshells around her family. She had barely spoken to Jackson since the night they were caught, and she missed him terribly.

She heard a knock on her door and turned to see Jackson standing in the doorway. "Can we talk?" he asked.

Mia nodded, and Jackson entered the room, closing the door behind him. "I know things have been tough," he said, sitting down on the edge of her bed. "But I miss you."

Mia's heart ached at his words. "I miss you too," she said, sitting down next to him.

"I know we messed up," Jackson continued. "But I don't regret what we had. I just wish we had been more careful."

Mia nodded in agreement. "I do too," she said. "I hate how everything turned out."

Jackson took her hand. "We'll get through this," he said. "We just have to give our family some time to come around."

Mia squeezed his hand. "I hope so," she said. "I hate feeling like an outsider in my own family."

"I know," Jackson said. "But we just have to keep trying. We'll make things right eventually."

Mia leaned her head on Jackson's shoulder, feeling a sense of comfort in his presence. They had a long way to go, but she was determined to make things work with her family and with Jackson. They just had to take it one step at a time.
