Avery's POV
March 2027
I heard Max coming back home. We had bought this house a couple of months ago, it had three rooms more than our old apartment, plenty of space now. One for us, another for the baby, another for a small gym, another for our simulator and trophy room and one for guests.
-Are you awake?- he asked from the hallway.
These last few weeks had been exhausting, I kept training in the gym practically every day but that only left me even more tired, so I spent half the afternoons napping.
-Yep.
-And what are you doing?- he looked at me strange.
-Bothering her to see if she moves.
We had found out that it was a girl just a month ago, at first Max said that he did not want to know the sex. I ended up accepting even if I was dying to know because after all it didn't change anything, we just wanted them to be healthy. In the end, the technician let slip in the last ultrasound that it was a girl so I ended up winning.
-Avery, she must be sleeping, let her rest.
I was lying on the sofa poking myself in the belly that seemed to grow for seconds. I had never felt so awkward and uncomfortable in my own body but she needed room to grow after all.
-Every time she moves she kicks me in the bladder, the least she could do is move every once in a while so I know she's okay, right?- I had been feeling her move and kick for more than a month now, at first I was excited, the problem now was that if I didn't notice her move for a while I was anxious in case something was wrong.
-When did you last felt her?- Surprisingly he had been the calm one between the two of us during all this, always assuring me that everything was going to be alright.
-Like twenty minutes ago, come and make her move please, she always pays attention to you.
It is insufferable sometimes, he appears and she goes crazy, she has come to wake me up from naps because she has kicked me directly in the bladder just because Max had said something when he entered the house. But I poke my belly for five minutes straight and she doesn't even flinch.
-The doctor already told us that you didn't have to worry, that everything was perfect.- She did but like a week ago, a lot can go wrong in a week.
-Just talk to her Max.- I say exasperated.
He sat on the ground next to me. His hand went to my belly and stroking it gently before poking at it a few times.
-Hey little bean, your mama here is worried about you, come on, give her a kick so she'll let you sleep.- he talked directly to the belly.
-Nothing- I sigh.
-Give it a second Ave, come on little one, dont be stubborn.
I finally felt two strong kicks just below Max's hand and that makes me breathe normally again.
-Okay, she's already moved, she's fine.- There are times that Max couldn't tell from the outside because her kicks weren't very strong yet.
But he still pocked me again a couple more times with a frown.
-Max, it's okay, she already kicked.
-I've noticed it...I've never felt it so strong, I want her to do it again.
I let him do it even though if she starts kicking a lot it's going to end up bothering me. Because he has such a big smile for something so small that I can't deny him that.
