Amber hummed to herself happily as Bryson drove them home. She stared out the cars window, watching the stars.
Bryson: So... are we going to talk about what happened?
Amber stopped humming and looked at Bryson, confused.
Amber: What exactly happened?
Bryson: You and Jayson. You two seemed to... get along.
Amber: Of course! He's super cool, and I was the first person to make him smile. The first!
Bryson: Yes, I saw. But you must remember, Amber, he's still considered another SCP as far as we know. We still don't know much about him, personally, let alone his reptilian state.
Amber: Dad, come on. You saw how nice he really is!
Bryson: The only thing we know about him is that small attitude of his.
Amber: Well, wouldn't you have an attitude toward the person that made you kill three other people?
Bryson: Amber, don't get started. You said yourself that they most likely deserved it.
Amber: I couldn't care less about what happened to the D-Class, but what I am worried about is Jayson. You made him go through a traumatic experience, whether you see that or not!
Bryson: Amber, you need to realize that we need to understand his behaviors and his natural responses to certain actions! You know this by now!
Amber: But you need to consider the fact that he's still human. And I believe that all of those monsters are humane in some way!
Bryson: AND THAT THINKING IS EXACTLY WHY YOUR MOTHER IS-Bryson stopped himself. He put a hand over his face for a moment, frustrated. Amber slowly looked down, thinking. Bryson looked at her for a moment, seeing her sadness practically radiating off of her. He sighed and they both stayed quiet for a while. When they finally arrived at their home, Amber went inside without a word. Bryson stood next to the car and watched as she did so. He looked up at the stars, thinking about his wife.
Bryson (memory): GET ME IN THERE! SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT SHE WAS DOING!
Scientist (memory): We were told you 'gave the okay'!
Woman (memory): *SCREAM*
Bryson (memory): MARY!!!Bryson shook his head violently. No matter how much he wanted to forget, the screams of his wife's death haunted him for years. He looked at the second story windows of his house, seeing the light to Ambers room shut off. He yawned, knowing he needs sleep, even if his memories may try and prevent him.
Jayson stared at the ceiling of his cell. He couldn't stop thinking about Amber. She's his first friend, and the first person to make him smile. All of his life, he's done everything he could do to stay away from people. The sound of his mother's screams echoed in his head, though he payed no mind. Ever since the fire, that's all he could hear in the silence. He wondered how much longer he'd have to deal with it. Months? Years? The rest of his life? All they wanted to do is show their most trusted friends their son, and they repay them by burning everything he's ever loved. At first he was glad to be alone, but now that he met Amber, someone who likes him for being him, he wondered if being alone the rest of his life was really the best idea.
He lifted his hand up, looking at it, thinking about the beast he was born as.Jayson (thinking): Best not to question the inevitable.
He put his arm down and rolled to his side, before drifting off to sleep, hopefully.
