Newt Scamander stood in line, glancing at the people around him. The customs officer finally called him forward.
"First trip to New York."
"Yes sir." Newt said quietly. The officer glanced at the case, "Anything edible in there?"
"No sir." Newt felt Pickett quiver in his pocket. The latch popped on the case, "Livestock?" asked the officer.
"Err.. No, I must get that fixed." Newt fumbled to shut it.
"Let me take a look." Newt placed the case on the counter in front of him, flipping a small switch- Muggle Worthy. The officer glanced at him and opened the case to reveal his scarf, his books, an alarm clock and a few various other necessities. Satisfied, the officer shut the case and handed Newt his passport. "Welcome to New York."
"Thank you." Newt hurried on his way.
"But where there is light there is shadow, friend. Something is stalking our city, wreaking destruction and then disappearing without a trace!" Mary Lou Barebone surveyed the crowd gathered at the steps of the bank. Her eyes landed upon Newt, "You friend. What drew you to our meeting today?"
"I was... I was just passing." Newt said embarrassed to have been noticed.
"Are you a seeker? A seeker after truth?"
"I'm more of a chaser really."
Newt's eye narrowed to the man who was sitting on the steps, his hat was off to the side and filled with coins. A little paw slowly came around the concrete barrier and the hat was gone.
"Excuse me." Newt mumbled hurrying after the thief. "Bugger, pilfering pest."
MACUSA
"This could mean exposure, this could mean war." Madam Seraphina Picquery surveyed the group of aurors in front of her. She sighed at Percival Graves and Anastasia Grindelwald, she knew nothing of had severed their relationship. They weren't together exactly, but the two were inseparable, or they use to be. Her best aurors, in her mind. She decided to talk to them later.
"I made your position clear Ms. Goldstein." She said upon seeing Tina. "You're no longer an auror. "
"Yes Madam President, but there's been a minor..." Tina stopped upon the stern look she was receiving."
"Well this office is concerned with very major incidents. Get out."
"Yes Madam President." Tina squeaked dragging Newt back the way they came. Anastasia rubbed her temples, "I'll go down later and see what that was about."
"This meeting is dismissed." said Madam Picquery. "Are you alright Anastasia?" She asked once everyone left.
"I'm fine." She said gathering herself and heading for the door. "Really not much time to worry about trivial matters. Not with my brother on the loose."
Anastasia left as Seraphina waved her wand over the map of New York. "A heart isn't a trivial matter, Anastasia. I only hope its not too late."
