About two years had passed since the fortuna incident. After multiple seismic reading were picked up on the town many reporters and scientists went to the town to figure out anything about what caused them. Nero with the help of Kyrie was able to convince the whole city to keep it a secret as quick as the reporters came they fled back.
After the destruction of the savior and the hellgates most of the city was left destroyed and many citizens dead. This meant many children were left orphans as Kyrie and nero offered them aid, adopting three orphans of their own. However food and rent wasn't cheap, many of the citizens Kyrie and Nero helped offered them food and money, but they always refused.

This gave Nero the idea of devil hunting as a way to make ends meet. If Dante and izuku could do it so could he right? Dante hearing about this sent him a neon devil may cry sign to hang up so people would know to contact him. Izuku also helped by giving the mafia, and other organizations Nero's contact info so they could contact him to exterminate devil's.
Meanwhile, with izuku he finished his second and final year of med school as he was able to become a fully fledged doctor getting a doctorate in medicine becoming one of the youngest doctors in the US at 17 years old. Of course while going to med school he did have to put devil hunting on hold, but did take jobs whenever he had the time. Nero and izuku would have also bonded over the years by fighting demons side by side and dealing with Dante's shenanigans.
On one fateful day a girl with black hair, red glasses and a gunsmith outfit showed up at fortuna looking for answers after reading an article about the town.

That day one of Nero and Kyries adopted children Julio brought Nico to their home after she kept asking about him from the townsfolk. Good parenting from Nero and Kyrie taught him to never talk to strangers but he found the girl curious after She mentioned Nero by name.
Nero from the initial description believed it was Gloria he was met with a stranger, Nicoletta Goldstein or Nico for short.
