The moon enveloped the world, absorbing the plaintive cries and helpless tears of a fragile soul. Her wails seemed endless as her heart pounded with deep anguish, and her body felt on the verge of surrender. Her hands trembled as she pleaded with the divine for a miracle.
❝Fayra, he will be fine!❞ Altamash's soothing voice tried to comfort her as he placed a hand on her shoulder. However, the devastated soul found little solace in his words. After the doctor's grim announcement, Fayra had lost her bearings. When she regained her senses, her first instinct was to call for her husband.
❝Fayra, Musa has been given twenty-four hours to regain consciousness, so hold on to hope!❞ Aroosh said, urging her to sit and take some deep breaths. Altamash, on the other hand, struggled with the situation, torn between his sister-in-law and his grandmother.
Aroosh offered Fayra a glass of water, which she initially refused but eventually took a sip. Her heart raced as her mind was consumed by troubling thoughts. She kept reassuring herself that Musa was a brave fighter and would overcome this battle.
❝Life is a series of strange events. I'm at a point where I'm terrified of losing someone I never truly accepted from the start.❞ Fayra's words drew everyone's attention. A tear fell from Altamash's eyes as he watched the anguished soul enduring such pain that it seemed her spirit might break.
❝When you die, the world will celebrate Mr. Musa Hassan Khan!!!❞
Her own words echoed in her mind, causing her to reflect on the recent events. She couldn't understand why she felt such dread over losing him, but all that mattered now was his survival.
❝You promised you wouldn't forsake me. I'm slipping away, so hold me, oh God!❞ Fayra's broken heart cried out to her Lord, the Supreme Being. She was aware of the trials and tests, but what frightened her was whether she would hold on. Would she grasp the rope of hope, or would she collapse? And would her beast survive, or was he gone forever? Many questions with no answers.
Fayra felt her spirit wandering into a dark, desolate place with no light, as if it had departed her body, leaving her merely existing. She felt lifeless.
❝The tragedy of life is that it tests those who fight back,❞ Dadi's words resonated with Fayra, echoing through the hospital's walls. The doctors and nurses went about their duties, while some in the waiting area were hopeful and others sat in despair, facing the possibility of losing their loved ones. The Khan family was seated in the VIP room since the hospital was owned by them.
Fayra's lips curled into a pained smile as tears shimmered in her eyes while she looked at Dadi with blurred vision. Meanwhile, Altamash exited, unable to bear the sight of Dadi in such distress.
❝Mrs. Fayra?❞ An unfamiliar doctor's voice called out, offering Fayra a gentle smile. She looked to Dadi, who stood by a nearby chair, nodding in support.
❝Mr. Khan is asking for you,❞ the doctor informed them, making Fayra's eyes widen with hope. Her heart swelled with gratitude as she followed the doctor, thankful for this sign of mercy.
Her heart raced with anxiety and a mix of emotions as she wondered how she would react upon seeing him and why he had called for her. Shaking off the thoughts, she entered the room.
Her eyes took in the white and gray walls as they met his ocean-blue eyes. His gaze softened with the sight of her, filling his eyes with renewed color as he saw his wife, Fayra Hassan Khan.
As Fayra approached him slowly, a single tear fell from her eye uncontrollably. Everything seemed to pause, with just their eyes locked in a poignant exchange, finding both beauty and pain in their shared moment.
Musa's next words made Fayra breathe heavily, his voice tender as he gazed at her gray eyes with profound emotion. It felt as though Musa Hassan Khan wanted to assure himself that his wife was okay. Though he could have asked anyone else, he wanted to see her himself. Before Fayra could fully comprehend his words, Musa lost consciousness again.
❝I just wanted to see you, wifey.❞
