The moon shone over the city. Light breeze caress gulnaz face as she closed her eyes, taking long breaths to smell the scent of wet mud. The scent which leaves after rain. It calmed her senses, she hadn't smoked in a day and didn't feel the need to.
The nature had its own addictive effect on her. It had been raining for the last two days as it was the start of the monsoon season. The leaves were all shiny and the roads were annoyingly wet with rain.
With her hair flowing because of the wind, she leaned against her bedroom's window frame. With the cold hitting her face, she sneezed three times wiping her nose with the handkerchief.
Rubbing her cold arms, she wished there could be someone with her right now. Someone she could kiss, hug and just hold in this brisk weather.
She thought of Dhruv. Her ex boyfriend. She didn't miss him but she remembered her moments with him. How they used to bunk classes and meet at the uncrowded areas in school. How they used to go to tuitions together or how he used to drop her home a street away just so no one would catch them.
Then she remembered the bitter memories, how they used to fight. How he used to call her names, how he used to find flaws in her when she needed love. How she used to get jealous when he was with his female friends.
It was a perfect relationship until it wasn't.
It was colourful until all colours were drained out of her soul.
Looking at the moon, she sighed. And then something clicked in her mind. She thought for few seconds and then hurriedly moved away from the window to her study table.
Finding the diary, she opened it and started scribbling the words that came in her mind. Before the words could vanish in her mind, she quickly wrote all over on her diary.
Looking at her work, she smiled. It was perfect for her. She wrote it without anyone's help. Feeling satisfied she leaned against her chair and admired her work.
Her phone ringed. She looked at it and saw it was Shoaib who was calling her. She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as to why he would be calling her at this hour of the night.
She picked up the call, "hello?"
There was a moment of silence before he spoke through the phone, "Hey, are you busy right now?"
"Shoaib it's 2am. What would I be busy about?"
"Man I don't know, probably watching TV or something."
She gave out a laugh, "I'm not a kid anymore. I don't watch TV."
"That's weird." He said
"I know."
"So what were you doing? Not sleepy?" He asked
"Not really sleepy, I was just enjoying the weather despite having cold." She said while wiping her nose with the handkerchief again.
"You caught cold?"
"Yes, because of yesterday. But I'll be fine in two days." Saying this, she sneezed which Shoaib heard.
"Do you have fever too?" He asked with seriousness
"No no. Only sore throat and runny nose." She laughed it off nervously, feeling awkward.
"You should use vicks inhaler. It will help you and please drink some hot ginger tea." The way he said 'please' warmed her heart right there.
She joked, "Yes sir, aur kuch farmaish aapki janab?"
