"What happened, Ji?" Haein asked, his voice a mixture of worried and nervous. "Tell me, what's wrong?" Haein knelt in front of her. She was sitting in his living room for almost 10 minutes, just sobbing and not talking.
Haein held her hand, grasping it, somewhat giving her an assurance.
"He is back."
"Who?"
"Chelsea's father. My ex fiance."
"How did you know?" Haein's brows now creased.
Of confusion. Of possible anger.
"I met up with him today. He wanted to meet Chelsea." Jisoo bit her lip, now trying to suppress her sobs.
"What did he tell you? Why do you look so anxious? Is he threatening you?" Haein's pitch now a little higher, going back and forth the living room.
"He initially wanted to share custody."
"Share whaattt????!!!"
"No. That can't be." Haein laughed sarcastically. Why the hell I am feeling so territorial and overprotective over this. He shut his eyes out of annoyance and anger.
"What if he took Chelsea away from me? I can't Haein. Chelsea is my life. She was the one who kept me sane all these years. I cannot lose her. I won't bear to lose another one." The tears she's been holding back fall again.
Haein pulled her up to hug her. He caressed her back trying to pacify her. "Ssshhh, it's okay, you don't have to worry about it. You are Chelsea's mom. He won't be able to take her from you."
You don't understand Haein, she said internally.
Haein wiped out her tears and cupped her face. "Stop crying cmon. Smile." He grabbed her again, kissing her forehead. "That jerk won't be able to take Chelsea away from you. From us."
"I am so confused and worried right now." She whispered. She was still worrying about Jack.
"We got this, Ji. Smile. I am here, okay." Haein smiled, and Jisoo can't help but smile too.
He was right, sharing her pain with him made it easier. Made things so much lighter.
"What can you even do? Seriously?" She chuckled.
"Are you making fun of me? I can do a lot. I can hire a good lawyer to make sure your rights as her mom will be intact. I can hide you and Chelsea so he won't bother you anymore. I can…."
"Can?" She queried.
Haein leaned forward, planting her a soft kiss. "I can marry you and legally adopt Chelsea. I can go that far Ji, as long as I'll keep both of you in my life."
