"What?" Haein's voice now full of shock and disbelief. Jisoo held his arm, gently pressing it. 

"She's my niece." Jisoo inhaled sharply, as she tried not to cry.

Tell him everything now. Just bare your soul to him. 

"But he is your fiance's daughter right? How come?" 

"She is Jiwon's daughter." Jisoo replied.

"Jiwon and Jack?"

"They had an affair behind my back."

Haein grabbed her tighter at the back as he could feel tears dropping on his arms. He can hear her soft sobs. He kissed her hair, consoling her. "Go on Ji, I am listening."

"Jiwon was just 19 back then. I am working already and Jack is my boyfriend. She got pregnant but she never told me who the father was."

There was long silence.

"Until I got pregnant too." She finally confessed.

She continued sobbing, her grip on his arms tightened. "I don't know if you will still stay with me after tonight Haein, but I wanted to tell you everything today."

She heaved a deep sigh as she continued.

"Jack and I set up our wedding. Jiwon was 3 months pregnant ahead of me. It was just a civil wedding. But Jack and I wanted that for our baby. My baby girl Ji." She wiped her tears.

"My baby."

She stopped briefly, recollecting her painful past.

"3 days before our wedding, I am 6 months pregnant then, Jack ran away. He just left me a letter. On how fuck up will it be at home knowing he had 2 daughters. Mine and Jiwon."

Haein growled lowly.

"I loathed them so much. Even Chelsea. I loathed everyone. Including my mom. Apparently she knew. I felt so betrayed that day that I ran away without thinking of my condition." She is crying uncontrollably. Haein turned her around and hugged her more, kissing her hair repeatedly. "I lost my baby Haein. Because of my stupidity I lost my baby." Jisoo buried her head on his chest as she cried hard, pouring her heart out. "The day I lost Baby Ji, my sister also died. She died giving birth to Chelsea."

"She had complications from gestational diabetes. She didn't make it. She died, leaving Chelsea with me."

Haein remained speechless, his ears all on her.

How the hell did she endure that? 

"It had been too hard to forgive. It was so hard. I hated Chelsea at the beginning too, you know. Until I started to love her like my own. And Jack coming back makes my fears worse. I am not her mom, Haein. I cannot afford to lose another baby. I am going to die. I cannot imagine my life without Chelsea."

Haein pulled away, wiping her tears. He looked at her intently. "I would have hated the world if that happened to me too. You are so strong Ji. I admire you more than ever now."

Jisoo just looked at him blankly. 

"You are not running away from me?"

"Why would I do that?" Haein embraced her again, still beneath the duvet. 

"I won't. I will never. I've got more reasons to stay. I'll protect you. No one would take Chelsea away from you, do you understand?"

Jisoo's heart clenched. His love bringing warmth to her heart.
