Lee shifted back into his human form once he reached his cabin's porch. When he walked in he saw Aurora's luggage next to the front door and his stomach dropped. Where was she going? Was she mad at him again for some reason? Before he could think of any other scenarios Aurora came running down the hallway and pretty much jumped him. She kissed him and pulled him to the closest soft surface, which was the sofa. He was naked thanks to his shifting and she was glad for it because she didn't want to wait. She pushed him back on the sofa and bent down to take him in her mouth. She had never loved anyone as much as she loved Lee and she wanted to show him just how much he meant to her. He was moaning, so she felt pretty confident that she was doing a good job. Lee didn't let her finish because as soon as he felt his release approach, he was up and picking her up fireman style and walking to his room. He put on protection and was on her the next second. He knew by the tears in Aurora's eyes that this was going to be their goodbye. He wanted to keep her by his side but that was an impossibility. He wasn't meant to have a mate by his side, it was too dangerous. As much as he loved her and as much as he wanted her, he would never put his Aurora in danger, if he could help it. "I love you Aurora," he said kissing the lobe of her ear as he slowed down the movements of his hips. He wanted to make this passionate, beautiful moment last as long as he could.

"I love you, Lee. I've always loved you and I always will," she said between tears. As they found their release they held on to each other for dear life. It was as if he was the raft she needed to cling to, in order to survive the stormy seas. "I want to come back to see you. Will you be okay with that?"

"This is your home Aurora. You can come as many times as you want. Even if I'm not here."

"Promise me you will be careful? I know that you are a trained assassin and all that junk but I still want you to promise me you will try to make it out of this in one piece."

"I promise, love. I'll be as careful as I can be while kicking some major ass."

She laughed and kissed his chest. She snuggled up so close he asked her if she wanted to open him up to get inside him like Luke Skywalker did with the Tauntaun in the Empire Strikes Back movie.

She laughed but didn't let go of her hold on him. The next day Lee drove her to the airport and she tried in vain not to cry.

"Will you call me?"

"I will."

"Every day?"

"Yes baby, if I'm able I will either call you or send you a text."

"Do you love me, Lee?"

"With everything that's in me Aurora. You told me that you never stopped loving me and I didn't stop loving you either baby. Next time you see me I will be an Alpha."

"I know you will do great and the plan will work out. It's a good plan."

"Go on darling; your life is waiting for you."

"She wanted to tell him that she was leaving her soul behind with him but she was trying to be strong. She kept telling herself that it wasn't goodbye. She was going to see him again soon. They kissed one last time and before she disappeared down the terminal she looked back at Lee and tried to memorize each feature of his handsome face. He waved at her and as soon as she felt the tears coming she blew him a kiss and walked away from the only boy she had ever given her heart to.

Lee was feeling something he had not felt in seven years. Funnily enough, the constant in both scenarios was a woman named Aurora. Since he had met her all those years ago he rarely if ever had a feeling of regret or disappointment. He had only wished for a different life once before when he was told to stay away from Aurora, after he had kissed her 7 years ago. She made him wish he was different; just a normal guy with normal guy problems. The truth was he was anything but normal. He wasn't even fully human for goodness sake. Not only that but he was a fucking slave to the SSP, and they were not gonna let him go, just because he had fallen in love. If anything they would use Aurora against him. He knew that they had made promises that would one day be forgotten. She had her whole life planned and her dreams were becoming a reality. He still remembered a 10-year-old Aurora telling him she was gonna be an animal doctor or an animal researcher. She used to say that she was gonna make sure that all the wolves in the world were safe. It had been funny how passionate she had been in her desire to help the animals of the world. She used to say that her favorite animal was a wolf because he was her favorite person. It was funny how the words of a little girl could keep a grown man grounded. When life was shit for him he would remember little Aurora's smile and her pronouncement that he was her favorite person in the world. He never told her he felt the same for her back then, but she had been the only family he knew. He would never get in her way. He walked away from her once and he would hate it with his whole heart but if necessary, he would do it again to keep her safe. Of course, he wouldn't do it right away. It would have to be done little by little. It would be the hardest thing for him to do and there was a strong possibility that he would fuck the whole thing up for both of them. He needed to focus on his mission 100%. Killing Horizon was not gonna be easy or fun. Aurora had done a great job at the farm and he was excited to offer the shifters of his sister's new pack a new life free from Horizon's tyranny. Finding Margueritte had been a miracle he had not been expecting. He knew she was apprehensive about the upcoming challenge. She had hugged him so hard that tongues started wagging in the pack and they had to reveal the fact they were siblings. Horizon had been ready to start the killing once he learned Lee had been spending way too much time with his female. Thankfully someone gave him the heads up and they began spreading the good news. When Horizon finally confronted him it was to welcome him to the family. Unfortunately for him, his brand new brother-in-law was about to challenge him for the Alpha position and put him 6 feet under. Margueritte was never gonna have to endure the bastard's rage ever again. At first, when he had been romancing her she had been excited. Every shifter girl dreamt about being chosen as a mate by the Alpha of the pack; it was a big honor. He had not known much about shifter politics when he was fresh out of the SSP and going on missions, but he made it a priority to learn as much as he could as fast as he could. He needed to make sure that the shifters out there didn't suspect he had been trained to kill since he was 5 years old. Blending in was important in his line of work. Being 6'4" and massive made blending hard enough on its own. He needed to work fast but every action had to be carefully calculated. If he messed up in any way a lot more than his sorry ass would pay the price. The only people who knew his plans fully were Aurora and Margueritte. He trusted both of them but trust could be broken by the person you less expected, so he had to be ready for any eventuality. He had two days to train. Not even Margueritte knew when he was gonna challenge Horizon. He wanted her to seem as surprised as everyone else. He had spent a whole year endearing himself with the pack, and he was pretty sure they would accept him as Alpha once he proved he could defeat Horizon and his lackeys. Once that was done he would move the pack and burn the village to the ground.
