Prologue - A New Beginning

Beautiful was not enough to describe the lady standing before the hashiras.

Her short midnight black hair was neatly tied up with a mauve purple butterfly hairpin. Complementing that were the strands of her violet-tipped locks let loose from the clip.

A large butterfly haori over the corps uniform balanced the appearance of her short stature. 

Yet despite her innocent demeanour, the hashiras could immediately sense a rigid quality in her seemingly candid smile.

"Good morning my children," Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the head of the demon slayer corps was standing on the elevated house, "I hope you are all well. As you would know, today we have a newcomer joining the hashiras as of now." 

He indicated to the lady who was standing by the side with her sister, Kanae Kocho.

"Konnichiwa~ My name is Shinobu Kocho, I hope we can work well with each other from this time forward!" she exclaimed in a closed-eye smile.

"Kanae, you are very flamboyant!! Even your sister has become a hashira!!" Uzui Tengen, the jewellery-adorned sound hashira praised.

"My my!! It was all because she worked so hard!" the lady standing by Shinobu chuckled with her hands over her mouth.

"Kya!! Your sister is just as pretty as you, Kanae!!" the pink-haired love hashira, Mitsuri, squealed as she bolted to the newcomer and shook her by the shoulders in pure joy, "Hey, let's be friends!!"

"Sureee," Shinobu replied as the girl kept on shaking her. Luckily for Shinobu, a masked man with a snake coiling around his neck pulled Mitsuri back (she didn't understand what was wrong with what she was doing though).

"DO NOT FRIGHTEN THE NEWCOMER, MITSURI!" the yellow-haired, bushy-browed fire hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku, bellowed with a wide smile and blazing orange-red eyes.

"I will pray for your wellbeing and strength in future battles against demons," the well-known blind giant, Gyomei Himejima, stood behind her, "namu amida butsu."

"Well, it seems that you will fit in perfectly, Shinobu," Ubuyashiki smiled.

"I hope so, oyakata-sama," Shinobu smiled back as he left the hashiras to themselves.

The hype of a new hashira promptly died down after his leave and the group briskly started splitting up (Iguro practically had to kidnap Mitsuri because she was talking so much to Shinobu that he was jealous).

With the receding footsteps, an exceeding calm entered Shinobu.

Much to her surprise (not really lmao), Kanae had left first. With Sanemi. 

~What a great sister~  she thought

Before she went to look for Kanae, Shinobu looked around to observe the headquarters. It warmed her heart to know that she would finally be able to be called the somewhat same level as her own sibling. Now, this exact place was going be the usual sight for her; frequent hashira meetings and talking amongst the most skilled swordsmen and women in the corps. 

She took in her surroundings once more.

To her surprise, there was still one person who hadn't left.

He wore a mismatched haori and had long, tied-up, obsidian black hair that almost covered a monotone face that looked almost boring.

~Hmm, I didn't even notice him. I should go say hello~ 

"Moshi moshi~ who are you?" she walked in front of him before he could leave.

"..."

"You didn't even talk during the meeting," Shinobu smiled sweetly.

"..."

His navy blue eyes looked down at her.

Shinobu tilted her head. 

He was tall. Much taller than her.

Suddenly, he turned his head and left. Just like that, without a single word said.

"Rude," Shinobu muttered under her breath.

~That must have been Giyuu Tomioka, he really lived up to how sis described him~

She tested his name on her tongue, "Giyuu Tomioka, nobody probably likes you."

So that's my first chapter (technically prologue). Sorry if it isn't good, this is my first time writing a fanfic. Giyuushino lives forever though so I needed to make this!!
