Chapter 8 - The Moon is Pretty Tonight

Tanjiro gang debut this chapter!! (not a rewrite of Mt. Natagumo episodes though because I'm sure everybody already knows what has happened)

Yawning, the warm Sun billowed out fuzzy orange rays that peered over the swaying meadows, pricked by the morning dew.

Rain delicately drizzled over the vast villages from a flurry of wispy clouds. Spots of light beamed through the holes of the white bunches that loomed over valleys.

The air was crisp and fresh, ideal for a day of quietude.

Soothing was the alleviating pitter-patter of the rain, which had now eased into a rhythmic melody, fused with the chirping tune of birds.

"CAW CAWW!! SHINOBU KOCHO IS TO BE SUMMONED TO HEADQUARTERS IMMEDIATELY!!" her Kasugai crow shrieked as it flew over her balcony.

~Ara ara, it seems that today may be quite interesting~

She promptly changed into her corps uniform and butterfly haori then left for the abruptly announced meeting.

~Hmmm, we never had a meeting scheduled for today... I wonder what it must be~

Once arrived at the minka-like (a traditional Japanese house) residence, it seemed to have been even quieter than nighttime.

Shinobu glanced around.

"Welcome, my children," Ubuyashiki emerged from the subdued light of the minka, his face still as amiable and kind as ever, "Shinobu, Giyuu, I have a joint mission for you."

Behind her, Giyuu had magically appeared simultaneously with the Lord.

"What kind of mission, Oyakata-sama?" Shinobu inquired, trying her best not to think about how much fun she would have teasing Giyuu the whole journey.

The latter, having not seen her for months after their latest rendezvous, was reminded again of her *existence*. He sighed at the thought of saying goodbye to the peace he had been enjoying lately; the old Shinobu was back, and with that look on her face, she was coming back strong.

"There have been reports of a lower moon dwelling on Mount Natagumo, alongside a multitude of other demons. Together, they have killed more than 50 of our own demon slayers. Unfortunately, it seems that we need two of our pillars to go and finish this and clean it up," Ubuyashiki smiled (or smirked haha, all hail Lord Oyakata, the ultimate shipper), "I am sure that you two will be the perfect pair to quickly sort it out."
