Part 12

They were lying on the sofa, him on his back with her head resting on his chest, legs intertwined. Her hands caressed his chest and stomach with feathers light touches. His body would jolt every now and then at the ticklish feeling. This felt so good, so right.
Both were floating in the sweet afterglow of the most amazing and intense sex they had just had.

"John..." she whispered, her fingers playing with the hairs on his chest. "What happens when you go back to New York?"

He wasn't surprised by her question. The thought had crossed his mind several times but he had pushed it back, wanting to just enjoy this unexpected time with her. But his days here in Salem were soon numbered. He was leaving on Sunday, forced to face his real life and leave this dream behind.

Marlena felt him thinking. His long silence made her afraid and unsure of what his answer would be. What was she going to do if he told her that this was just a short fling and they had absolutely no future together. How was she going to react to that? Should she beg him not to end it, to stay? Or should she act like it wouldn't break her heart all over again?

Marlena began to feel uncomfortable with his silence, her own thoughts and the fact that they were lying here naked. The intimacy was too much for her right now, if he was about to tell her what she feared the most. She needed space, to put some distance between them.

John felt her begin to stir in an attempt to remove herself from him.

"Where are you going?" He said with confusion.

"I ahh...I need to use the bathroom" she lied, not looking at him as she sat up and started to move.

John noticed her sudden change in mood, going from being totally content and relaxed to now nervous and evasive.
He grabbed her arm just as she was about to stand up. "Hey Hey...What's wrong?" He asked.

She tried to cover her naked body by wrapping her arms around herself, suddenly feeling too exposed and vulnerable.
"I..I just don't want you to leave, I guess...I don't want this to end.." She said looking down. There it was, the truth. Now her heart truly was in his hands, she just hoped he wouldn't break it again.

Outside the building, Rebecca was sitting in the car again. It had been 3 hours since she saw John walk inside and apparently vanished inside the empty building.
She had tried to call his phone reversal times but it went straight to voicemail. She was running out of patience, feeling the jealousy and anger burning through her veins.
Suddenly an idea came to her. Grabbing her phone she opened google and typed in Dr. Evans, Salem.
She scrolled through the search results, not really sure what she was looking for. There were a lot of articles written about her and by her. She clicked on the website of University Hospital Of Salem and quickly read some basic information about her.
Apparently she was not just very pretty, she was also very good at her job and a very respected psychiatrist. She was married to a police officer and had three children.
She spotted a phone number and before she had a chance to think about what she was doing, she pressed call and heard the dialing tone.

"Dr. Marlena Evans' office, how may I help you!" Kelly said.

"Hmmm...Hi.. I was wondering if I could speak to Dr. Evans!" Rebecca hadn't thought this through, so her plan was just to hang up once the phone was picked up.

"I'm sorry but Dr. Evans already left for the day."

"Oh..okay I see" Rebacca had a bad feeling about this. John saying that he had a meeting and now "she" had left her job early..something was going on.
"I thought she was working till at least 4 or 5 a clock" she said, trying to get more information.
