Part 17
It was Saturday morning, the day of Brady and Chloe's wedding.
In one end of Salem, the Black family was getting ready for the big day, although several of them had other things on their minds. But today it was all about Brady.Across town, Marlena sat in her kitchen, quietly sipping her morning coffee. It had been one of the craziest weeks in her life. Everything had changed from the second John came back. Thinking about it, this was far from the first time that John had stirred things up. With him, their lives had always been filled with passion, action, danger, love, lighting and thunder. One couldn't say that it had been boring, not then and not now.
Her mind wandered back to when they first met, when he needed her help to try and figure out who he was. And when they went to West Virginia, where he ended up taking her hostage, and running from the KGB and Victor. But in reality, she didn't want to leave him. She loved him already, even though she thought he was Stefano. And then there was her coma, followed by Orpheus kidnapping her and ending with them reuniting in Stockholm. Even when she returned from her 5 years absence, did the drama continue. Finding Roman in San Cristobal, Stella throwing her in the pit and John being the hero and coming to her rescue, but ending up with her down in the dark, facing death together.
Ever since he left Salem, nothing even remotely like that happened. It was as if life slowed down and slowly sucked the life and happiness out of her. It wasn't that she liked the danger and outrageous things that had happened to her when John was in her life, but somehow it made her feel alive and appreciate life even more. And the feeling of reuniting with John, whenever she thought she might never see him again, that was a feeling like no other. Her plan had been to talk to Roman when she came home yesterday, but like all other days, he was at the police station until late in the evening. She wondered if he would even notice if she just packed up her things and moved out..
"Good morning" Roman yawned, entering the kitchen and interrupting her thoughts.
"Good morning.." Marlena replied, taking another sip of coffee. "Roman.. I need to speak with you"
Running his hand through his hair, Roman looked at his wife and wondered why she sounded so serious. "Okay...but not now, I am going to the police station. We are so close to catching this guy we have been looking for for months."
Marlena let out a deep sigh. This was one of the reasons why they were never able to make things work between them. He always put work first, before his family and everything else.
"Okay, I guess it can wait until tonight then!" Marlena couldn't even be bothered to argue and demand that he stayed, she had tried that so many times throughout their marriage, but it was a waste of energy. With his back to her, Roman grabbed his cup and poured coffee. "I did a little detective work and did you know that John is in town because Brady is getting married here today?"
Turning around with the cup in his hand, he watched her reaction closely. It didn't surprise Marlena that he had figured it out, actually she expected it. Roman was jealous in regards to John and she knew he was bothered by the fact that John was back.
"Yes I know. I have actually spoken to John and I'm considering going to the church to watch the ceremony" Marlena said.
Roman furrowed his eyebrows and stared at her.
"Have you seen John since the day in the park? When...Why" He questioned her, the feeling of jealousy and possessiveness creeping up on him.Seeing the condescending and nonchalant look in Romans eyes, made her want to just blurt out everything that had happened between her and John. "That is actually what I wanted to speak to you about, but I thought you needed to get to work" She said shrugging her shoulders.
