Never Forgotten

Part 16

Part 16:

Running down the hallways of the hospital, John was panicking. Marlena had called him 15 minutes ago and although she didn't say much, he knew that something was terribly wrong. The tone of her voice had him jumping in his car immediately, leaving a dumbfounded Rebecca behind with no explanation.

"Marlena!!" John shouted as ran by her secretary.

"Excuse me sir, but you can't go in there without an appointment" Kelly said nervously as she watched this mad man run toward her boss's office.

"She is expecting me!!" John yelled not looking at Kelly as he tried to open the door.

"I'm going to call security!" Kelly threatened, her hands moving toward the panic button under her desk. Just as she was about to push it, she remembered seeing him before. He was the handsome man who came by almost a week ago to see Dr. Evans. He had told her he was an old friend of hers, but she didn't get his name.

John ignored the threat and knocked on the door. "Doc, it's John" his voice softened a bit.

"Sir..please step...." Before Kelly could finish her sentence, Marlena opened the door.

"Kelly, it's okay. I am expecting Mr. Black" Marlena said, trying to calm down the situation before the other members of the staff would notice the commotion.

Kelly stared at Marlena, trying to make eye contact to make sure the situation was under control.

"Kelly...it is okay. Trust me!" Marlena said as she saw the worried expression on Kelly's face.
Kelly reluctantly nodded her head and saw Marlena and Mr. Black disappear into her office.

As soon as Marlena closed the door, John wrapped his arms around her. "Sweetheart, what happened?"

Marlena heard the concern in his voice and felt the tension in his body. This was the second time in less than 24 hours that John had come to her rescue.

"I'm okay, but I need you to sit down" Marlena said, taking his hand and guiding him to the sofa.

"I'm going to tell you something and I want you to stay calm..can you do that for me?"  She asked.
John nodded his head, not saying a word.

Taking a deep breath Marlena decided to just get to the point. "I had Laura come and hypnotize me, like we talked about...John.. I remembered being pregnant...Stefano must have taken the baby away and done something to make me forget... John, we have a child out here somewhere" she said lovingly while holding his hands.

Watching him closely for his reaction, she saw how his emotions changed from total disbelief, then loving, ending with anger and hatred towards the man who had destroyed his life more than once.

John stood up abruptly and started packing around. She knew she had to let him go through his emotions without her interfering, before she could talk to him.
A million thoughts ran through his mind and he struggled to keep his emotions in check. If it weren't for the fact that Stefano was already dead, he would have hunted him down and strangled him with his bare hands.
Running his hands through his hair in pure frustration, he turned around and saw the woman he would do everything to protect, and instantly he calmed down.
Realizing that he couldn't undo what had happened to Marlena and their baby, his mindset changed. He needed to focus on what was important right now, and that was the fact that they shared a child.

John dropped down on his knees in front of Marlena, took her hands in his and looked up in those mesmerizing hazel eyes that were so full of concern and love.
