Flame. I can feel the heat of the fire consuming my body. I see Chae pushing herself out of the black smoke, her brown hair charred and face with burns.
"Why didn't you help me Sara?! I'm dead because of you" She screamed, grabbing my shoulders. "You left with those terrible men. And now you'll live with that guilt!"
I can hear more footsteps coming out of the black smoke. My mother, my father both with a disgusted look on their faces. "You should've died with them! You imbecile, you watched your best friend die in a fire, and didn't do anything!"
No no no. I couldn't have. I couldn't have saved her. But what about the man at the door? I could've saved him. In his last moments he had to see a scared girl watching him die through a window. It is my fault. I should've fought through it, should've saved them. But I couldn't...
"Wakey wakey-" A deep voice bellowed, softly shaking my shoulders. I fluttered my eyes open to see the man by the name of Felix at the foot of my mattress on the floor. For a second, I forgot where I was, until I saw the room I was in. The walls were bare concrete, much like what I imagine a prison cell to look like. There were various shades of dried liquids on the walls. Some a dark red, probably blood. I gagged at the thought of me sleeping in a place like this.
"Yeah, it's pretty gross. To be fair though, you slept pretty well. Not counting the fact you set off our sound sensors because you cried in your sleep."
"I what?" Oh yeah- my dream. What else would he expect, of course I would cry after being kidnapped.
"Look, I'm sorry about this. Trust me, for a mafia, we try not to do this. It's just, you kinda ruined a plan we worked on for a few months. I mean it took forever~ to get all the oil in the sprinkler systems, and your boss in ther-" Felix rambled.
"You guys were trying to kill my boss?!" I raised my voice.
"Eh, kinda. Chan would kill me if I gave you a bunch of details. But basically, the company you were working for was supplying our rivals with medical supplies. So you're pretty lucky you're alive right now. I mean Chan must like you or something."
"I'm gonna pretend I didn't hear that, Felix. So what am I even supposed to do?" I questioned, sitting up.
"I don't know. Changbin, Han and Chan are going to meet with you about today, I just had to grab you." He said, reaching his hand down to pull me up. I grabbed it and got up. "Shit, my head!" I flinched as I stood up. "There might be a bruise from Minho hitting you yesterday, it'll get better."
"Who hit me?" I asked, rubbing my head.
"Nobody, hurry up. We'll both get in trouble if you're late.
Felix led me up the stairs and into a large, open living room. The ceiling was tall, and opened up to the second floor of the house. The walls were lined with large windows, while the center of the room contained plush, modern furniture. The TV, standing on a short bookshelf, was on and playing the news.
"Last night, a popular bar, The Creek Tavern collapsed last night, after a fire. As far as we know, there have been no known survivors of the tragedy last night. We assume this was a plot by the Dynasty Clan, a local crime group, due to oil coming out of the sprinklers before the fire. This is Jo Ha-Ri, and this is Seoul 6:30 Ne-" The TV blanked off.
I looked over and saw Bangchan, Changbin and who I assume is Han, sitting on a couch. Chan held the remote and a laptop on his lap. Rather than a suit like yesterday, he wore gray sweatpants and a workout shirt. "Barely on time Felix." He joked. "Go tell Jeongin to congratulate yourselves on covering up for last night. We'll be done here pretty soon."
