The festival light reflected off my scowling face as I walked next to (Least favorite guardian), they dragged me to this Halloween festival to 'make things up to me'. After I threw a fit like a child and ran away from Mrs. Noceda's house and Luz, I've refused to do their chores.

I used to use my skateboard to go between my hometown and Gravesfield to buy things or sell their dumb products but after I've been all sad and mopey I quit working for them and we had a fight, of course now they decide to treat me like their child and not their intern and try to 'fix our relationship'.

So here we are, the Gravesfield Halloween fest.

They grab my arm and drag me to the hay ride, acting more like a child than me.

"Come on, Y/n. You're embarrassing me, get in the damn cart."

It seems they've had enough of my shit and were dropping their two-faced "I love my kid so much" act for a moment as they harshly whispered to me. I was fixing to ignore them, turning around to watch the oncoming crowd of people getting in line, only to be meet with Luz and Hunter --Who looked much older and more mature-- chatting things up with their group and all in cosplay and costumes.

"(Guardian name)! Let's get this thing going, now!"

I hopped on, grabbing the rail and practically vibrating in place.

(G/N) was taken aback, sitting into their seat softly with an unsure face.

"Are you... mocking me?"

Masha rolled their eyes, watching the approaching kids with interest.

I forced a smile onto my face. "No, I am just... so excited to... ride the hay ride!"

I turned to Masha. "So, Let's go!"

"Calm down. Y/n. I've never seen you act like this, we have enough room for another group to get on."

I whine as Masha beckoned Luz's group to come closer, Luz saw Masha and waved at them; dragging her companions closer. I freaked out and grabbed my hoodie, pulling it over my head as they all got themselves seated talking early amongst themselves.

The cart started and I practically crawled into the corner of the cart, becoming as small as possible. Masha was talking but I couldn't hear them over my thoughts, with the little bit of my hoodie open I could see him, hunter. Focusing on my breathing I hugged my legs close to myself.

Do not freak out, please, oh my god.

Of course, of course this would happen to me.

I heard chanting from two of the other kids Luz brought on in response to something Masha said.

"Make us cry! Make us cry!"

"Because there's nothing scarier than knowledge."

"Boo, just lie to me!"

Okay, that almost made me laugh, the youngest of the group clearly wanted to be scared.

"Let me tell you the eeriest unsolved mystery of Gravesfield. The Tale of the Brothers Wittebane."

The collective silence seemed to imply they all were paying close attention, the girl next to me leaning over to whisper to Luz.

"Wittebane? Isn't that Belos?"

"The year is 1613. Two orphaned brothers arrive in Gravesfield. Their names?

Philip and Caleb."

The cheery composure the group had melted away and I could feel Hunter anxious aura from here.
