Chapter 21

Tylers P.O.V.

I woke up in excruciating pain all over my body. My chest felt like it was on fire and every muscle in my body felt sore. I open my eyes to find myself in the medical wing. I hated it here, I don't like the sound of the machines and their repetitive beeping. I scan the room, and I conclude I am alone until I see Isaac sitting in the chair adjacent to the head of the hospital bed. He is biting his fingernails, a habit I haven't seen him do in a while. He doesn't notice my staring, he is too distracted in his thoughts. I know he feels guilty about what happened. I don't even know how to get him to understand it wasn't his fault. It wasn't my dad's fault either. It was mine. All of this could have been avoided. 

"Tyler" Isaac announces my name when he finally notices my eyes open. His eyes are wide and I can tell he is tired. I look out the window to see that afternoon is now night. "I have to go get your mom" He exclaims before running out of the room. 

I attempt to take a deep breath but felt a sharp pain as soon as I try. My mother walks in with the pack doctor. 

"Tyler, you got roughed up pretty bad," he says while looking at the chart, "You have two broken ribs, both on the right side. Your wrist is strained and-" He pauses to stare at my eyes "Your eye was bloodshot but it looks fine now that Isaac did those cool compressions. You have tons of bruising everywhere and your nose was bleeding but it stopped a few hours ago. You haven't been coughing up blood anymore either." Isaacs's mom walks in to listen to the doctor as well. It's hard for me to look at her, she probably despises me for what I did to Isaac. She has every right to. 

"Okay, so I have two types of pills for you, this guy is for pain, you take them as needed, you're gonna need them, trust me. Only two every six hours. If you still feel extreme pain after taking these, come back to the medical wing and we can give you something stronger through an IV." He hands me the first bottle of pills. "This guy is for sleep. take these only if you can't sleep, if you don't sleep within an hour of taking one pill, take another." He handed me the other bottle, this one had a big sticker with a moon on the lid, "Lastly, breathing may be painful because of your broken ribs. Try to sleep on your left side to prevent pressure build-up, and practice these breathing exercises whenever you're struggling to breathe" He hands me a paper filled with pictures of breathing exercises. "Alright you are free to go whenever you are ready, he signs a few things off on my chart before saying his goodbyes to the Luna and Isaac's mother. 

Isaac excuses himself from the room and his mom follows. My mom sits in the chair next to my bed. She lets out a loud sigh. 

"You had me really scared there kid," She says with relief as she strokes my hair. 

"I'm sorry Mom, I know I screwed up" I apologize. 

She shakes her head, "This, this isn't your fault, I'm sorry I wasn't there hun" She gives me a kiss on my forehead. "Can you stay in the Alpha Suite tonight? In your old bedroom?" 

I give her a worried look, "Mom, I can't, Dad will be there and I just, I'm not ready yet to see him" 

My mom frowns, because she knows I am right to decline her request, "Can I stay with you then, in your bedroom, I want to take care of you. I can't stand the thought of you being alone" She pleads. 

"Mom, I will stay with Isaac tonight, okay? I'll be fine" I say. 

My mom raises her eyebrows, "So, Isaac." She starts. 

"Isaac. Isaac and I, we are okay. Everything is okay now" She smiles at my response. 

"Tyler, I'm going to talk to your dad about this whole Alpha thing, don't worry about your pos-"

I cut her off, not allowing her to finish. "Don't, if dad doesn't think I am ready, it's fine."

My mother places another kiss on my forehead before leaving the room. 

I start getting up, but the pain is too much with every movement I make. Isaac sees me and runs toward me. 

"What is wrong with you, why are you trying to get up by yourself? Are you stupid?" Isaac begins blabbering about how the doctor explained my condition and how I should not be trying to do these things by myself yet. 

With lots of help from Isaac, I manage to get up the stairs. I say help but in reality, Isaac basically carried me up the stairs. You would think a house the size of ours would have an elevator, but you would be wrong.

When we finally arrived at Isaac's room, he set me down on his bed. He had worked up quite a sweat, we have a lot of stairs. 

"You know what, all it took to get you to carry me up the stairs was get the absolute shit beat out of me." I joke. He glares at me in response. 

I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror that sat on top of Isaacs's dresser. I looked like someone placed my head in a food processor and blitzed it for a good ten seconds. I had a black eye and a deep cut under the other eye, there was a yellow-blue bruise on my forehead and another where my jaw met my ear. My lip was cut, and my nose had dried blood around it that looked black. 

"Holy shit, I cannot believe this is the face you have been staring at for hours, how do I apologize for this?" 

Isaac gives me a downturned smile, before leaning in to kiss me. The kiss was heavenly, despite all the pain, it was all I could feel. He breaks the kiss and accidentally lays his hand on my chest, he doesn't mean to, but the smallest amount of pressure is applied, the pain from it is so large, I can't help but react. I hiss at the pain, and he immediately retracts his arms. 

He stares at me with sorry eyes. "I am so sorry, I didn't mean to. I hate seeing you like this." 

I lean over to give him a peck on the lips, "Stop apologizing. It will pass, I'm still an Alpha, I heal very fast." 

He sighs before reaching into the pill bottles the doctor gave me and forcing me to take the sleeping pills. The pain was incomprehensible, like nothing I felt before, but I still slept well with Isaac next to me.

Tyler's redemption arc is happening, slowly but surely.

DID ANYONE NOTICE THAT THE DOCTOR SCENE IS SUPPOSED TO BE REMINISCENT OF WHEN ISAAC WAS IN THE MED WING WHEN HE GOT REJECTED?

What goes around comes around. 

I need to clarify something because people are confused about the order of things. 

Tylers council is him as alpha, Isaac as Beta, Dakota as third in command. Oli is the lead warrior, and Ryan is the first warrior. 

Lead warrior is a higher rank and a part of the council. The first warrior reports to the lead warrior and isn't part of the alphas council. Ryan is just a good friend of Tyler and Isaac so he is around a lot. Lia is just Ryan's mate, she doesn't have a position.
