The cushion wasn't soft enough to comfort her as she fell. The height so unbearable that the impact left her breathless. Her eyes began watering and her very being only shook with nerves, numb and seemingly dumb as she stares before her. The black squared mechanism allowed such a memory to play on loop. She could have sworn this happened moments ago, wasn't this just last month? No, the time and rhyme of her daily life became such a nuisance that she closed her eyes. She wished not to see the days go by and people leave her to prosper as she stuck tangled in the web of endless strings restricting her venture. Only if it was that easy, to find a sharp knife and cut away these ties that bind her oh so tightly to the walls of her mind. She didn't want to stay behind as the other little caterpillars spread their wings and drift with the wind. Deep down she knew the fear of forever was the true binding that kept her thoughts from thinking, digging, and wiggling into the chasm that was her potential. She excepted her fear and eventually grew to ignore it, only to be sat right down on this weighted cloud and reminded about how behind she truly felt. So much has happened and long been forgotten that now she look back and fully realize its extent. How had she let it happen, let it ferment into the beautiful fungus that was her past? The past that was seconds extended into lifetimes by her own cursed misery. Maybe with the broad arches and garments of succession she would truly come to accept herself. The fact that she had no will to take that knife and cut the ties or maybe take the car out for a fast ride. Drop out and work amongst the crowd was quickly shot down so she gave a sigh and turned away. Now she sat, staring at a forever-forgotten shot in the dark that her mind had twisted to years turned into seconds. Seconds turned to the present. Only opened eyes, tainted with decades of tears fully kept her awake now, now she had finally realized how light the dark had become.
