Chapter 10

Standing right there a few feet away from me was my sister at first, I couldn't believe my eyes. She was alive and she looked unscathed apart from a few scratches on her arms and face.

I felt a surge of joy and relief wash over me, My sister slowly walked over placing my a hand on my face gently brushing her finger along my cheek before she grabbed and hugged me. I was taken back by this.

I could hear little sniffles coming from her indicating she cried a gently stroked her back "It's okay, don't cry" we broke apart all for her unleash a surprise slap to the face

I understood why she would do this but if she wasn't my sister i'd of probably of killed her for that. Anyway a shook it off turning to face my sister's teary eyed face

"I'm glad you aren't dead" She spoke wiping her eyes breaking out into a chuckle

"I try my best" i joked

Before anything could happen the first question i needed answered was quite a tough one "What happened to mum?"

My sister's face shifted from happy to sad as she looked away "Not long after we fled the settlement she...." i could see her about to start crying

A patted her on the shoulder gently squeezing to show i understood "I know it wasn't easy" she settled down.

My sister overlooked my shoulder etching a smile on her face "Who's the girl?" she nodded towards Ellie who was still perplexed by the horses

"That's Ellie" i said not realising i'm blushing

She chuckled walking forward towards the horses "She's a real beauty" My sister petted the horse exchanging a look with Ellie

My sister held out her hand "Hey, I'm Cassandra L/N"

"Ellie" Ellie accepted the hand shake smiling "It's a pleasure to meet you"

Maria and Tommy started taking us on a tour going inside the plant Joel and Tommy split up from us to go fix the electrical power meanwhile Ellie and my sister are bonding on the walk to the lunch place.

Grabbing a tray of food i immediately dug in feasting in how delicious it all is choosing to be happy in the moment even if it'll be short lived. My sister and Ellie were getting along quite well chatting and laughing away

After finishing my food i got up "I'm gonna take a breather let the girls talk in peace" He informed the others

"Don't get yourself killed" I heard my sister shout

"Will do" i responded digging through my bag pulling out cigarettes pushing open a door to be outside again

Ellie (Pov)

My cravings had been fulfilled from the food i've eaten wiping my mouth with a cloth sipping water to wash it down with, Cassandra took mine and hers tray ducking them in a trash can "So, how did you meet my brother?"

"Oh" I was caught off guard by the question "We met because a woman named Marlene who made a deal to smuggle me to a group of fireflies. plans went sideways and now here we are" I explained

Cassandra sat on the bench look a bit mad "Marlene, you say" from the way she clenched her hand only meant there was history

"What happened?" I asked curious

Side note: This transpires before the fireflies had found out about Ellie's immunity incase anyone gets confused.

The sound of people being torn apart echoed throughout the building i had no choice in watching my friends be torn apart by runners wasn't pleasant i'll say I checked to see i've got nine rounds in the chamber.
