Chapter 13

I can't believe our journey is almost over. It feels like we've been on the road for a lifetime, facing danger at every turn. But now, after all the trials we've faced, we're finally approaching our destination.

Part of me is relieved that we've made it this far. We've come so close to death so many times, and I'm amazed that we've managed to survive this long. But part of me is also sad that it's all coming to an end. I've grown so close to Ellie and Joel loving them both.

I know things will be different once we reach our destination. We'll have to face the consequences of our actions, and we'll have to deal with the aftermath of everything that's happened. But I also know that our journey has changed us both in ways we never could have imagined.

For me, it's been a chance to redeem myself, to make up for the mistakes of my past. For Ellie, it's been a chance to grow and mature, to become the strong and capable person she was always meant to be, and for Joel it was to bring him peace and help him move on from what happened to his daughter.

I know that when our journey ends, we'll both be different people than we were when we started. But no matter what happens, I'll always be grateful for the time we spent together, for the memories we've made, and for the bond we've formed.

Lurking through the streets climbing up the side of a building stalking a group of fireflies the creature had become obsessed with them ever since picking up their scent at the university building.

After a moment of observation it attacked the group ripping through two of them hurling a dead body at another guy sending him into a group of infected the screams gave pleasure to the creature the only surviving member ran away only looking back after hearing a high pitched screech and it was now in pursuit of him.

The firefly member hid behind a crate panting and heavy breathing he searched for his radio finding it missing "Son of a bitch" He whispered trying to remain out of sight of the thing that killed his men.

The firefly checked seeing nothing about he let out a deep exhale thinking it is safe to come out when the feeling of something warm hit his neck, he glanced up as the creature attacked him slicing into his abdomen and hurling him through a window.

The creature enjoyed inflicting pain to its victims it crawled through the window smelling the firefly's fresh blood it sniffed him out in seconds. The firefly was crawling on the ground trying to escape only his wound slowed him down.

A long tongue expels out the creatures mouth dragging the firefly back it lurked down jabbing its fingernails into his eyes before it crushed his head. the creature appeared to have a form of intelligence as it searched the body discovering a map with locations marked on it.

Walking on a highway i yawned stretching my arms while i did this Ellie appeared to be fixed on a stone carving of a deer on the wall, I walked over putting a hand on her shoulder to which she jumped startled by this.

"You okay?" i asked 

Ellie didn't respond at first before sighing "Yeah i'm fine" She brushed past 

Joel came to my side and we shared the same expression walking on i reached into my backpack taking out my water bottle to have a sip of water.

"I'm gonna on ahead" I walked ahead leaving Joel and Ellie rest because of how long we've been walking maybe i'll see if i can find a shop to gather supplies.

I climbed down a ladder getting off the highway trying to find any indications of firefly's, on my walk i stumbled upon two bloodied corpses "fresh" I thought bending down finding firefly pendants on the bodies the growling of an infected got my attention.
