ANEW AWAKENING

chapter one

From the minute she enters the garden he was able to tell who she was, Jan Reeves look on with disbelieve as this woman stood facing him, a girl he knew from high school Johanna kartwell he remember her as if yesterday was when he last saw her, he was assigned to a therapist but he would never be able to tell that the girl he once like back in school but didn't really talk to
He wondered what the hell she was doing here and wanted to asked right away,  As he was about to his manager cuts in beforehe could get a word in,
"Mr Reeves, jan, meet Johanna, Johanna kartwell,  she'll be working as your therapist"
"My what?" Jan's voice cuts in, in a roar,
"Your therapist" his manager said, "Johanna meet Jan" the man said looking from Jan to Johanna, Johanna ease around the man to have a better look at the guy on the wheelchair for he was now blocking him  from her,  she didn't quite picked him up at first on just walking in  for a while there he looks to be a little different but on  looking closely she recognized that he'sthe same jan the one she madly and secretary loved in highschool, thinking it's because she haven't seem him for so long  "Jan Reeves!" She thought deeply as  she remembered  Jan Reeves the handsome cycles from high school the boy she liked then the boy who was too rich and famous and too popular to even noticed existence she put herself together so well yet still  he didn't notice her one bit, never looked her his handsome face only age a bit ten years aging but he was still handsome muscular and sexy inspite sitting on a wheelchair, Johanna looked  him over when the man move to the side,
Jan side look her then his gaze followed his manager
She didn't think he remember her for to the way he never took the time to see her so how will he remember who she was Johanna bet he didn't know her name,
"Miss Maclean" the man call loudly and a thick bodied woman came running,
"Mr Reeves you call sir?" The woman the man just yell for asked,
"It was I who called you miss Maclean the man said
"Mr Carter" the woman said to the man, he couldn't be more than a few years older than Jan who's around twenty eight the last they were in high school he was eighteen and it has been ten years as for her she turns twenty seven last month, June that was her birthday was on the thirtieth she can't remember if Jan celebrated in May or it was in this month she didn't push to anyway,
"I want you to fix a room close to Mr Reeves room for miss kartwell she'll be staying in this house for a while" the man said
The woman look at her and cracked a smile, "sure Mr Carter I will"
Gary nod at the older woman and smirk "then I'll see you all later, miss kartwell, miss Maclean, Jan" Gary tap on Jan's right shoulder, causing him to look up, 
Johanna nod her head,
Gary walk away before getting far Jan called to him, "Gary wait up" Jan said
Gary stop and Jan wheel himself out to him,
He look back at Johanna as he reach Gary
"What you doing?" He whispered
"What you mean?" Gary asked
"She's staying here?" Jan asked
Gary nod, "I'm afraid so
"Why didn't I get someone else," Jan asked
"Asked your doctor, he promised to get you the best and she's here" Gary said
"You can't do nothing?" Jan asked not caring he just heard that she's the best,
"What do what?"
"Aren't you my manager you have the say" Jan asked
"She's the best" Gary said
"And you know she is because?" Jan asked
"We asked for the best" Gary said walking away
"Do we always get it when asked?" Jan asked
Gary ignored him
"Gary, Gary" Jan called through his teeth
"I'll call you later" Gary said with that he just got un his car and left,  leaving Jan,
Jan hissed with a heavy sigh as he watch his manager leaving, he turnedto see Johannawatching him he avoided her gaze,
Johanna too turned away,
Jan wheel back to where she  stood, he was  unsure what to say he didn't plan on saying much, as he might not anything at all, but what will he say anyway he wasn't used to talking to her and it might appear actward,
"Your room is ready miss, miss" miss Maclean said
"Please call me Johanna that will be just fine" Johanna said the older lady nod with a smile,
"Yes miss Johanna your room is ready"
"Thank you" Johanna said calmly
Jan look up at her, there was always something in her voice that shake him and this was no different that sweet soft voice of hers still affect him,
Miss Maclean nod and they both smirk at each other,
"Sir I've serve lunch for you" miss Maclean said to Jan he look up and smile,
"Should I wheel you in sir?" Miss Maclean asked
Jan dismissed her with a handwave
Johanna look from him to her
Jan started wheeling himself in he became nervous that his arms could barely move to push his wheelchair
Johanna took hold of the handle and was about to offer some assistance
"I'll manage" Jan said heavily
Johanna let go and stood aside she  watched him as he slowly push his way walking a step behind,
They entered the house and Johanna glance around it was quit a luxurious village located in the green island garden district 69 Hudson Avenue Troy New York 12183, from it's fashionable decor to the perfect walls Johanna didn't need to asked if Jan had spend million on this place, and it is at a lovely spot, she like it already it was painted with pale blue and the heavy wood furniture make it quit elegant the stairs and the furniture made from the same texture of wood and the natural colors matched,  she look up marveling
"Miss Johanna" the lady voice cuts in her head, "will you have lunch? I'm about to serve up some for Mr Reeves" miss Maclean informed
"That's ok I'm not hungry I haven't too long have something" Johanna said
Jan look at her,
"Ok" miss Maclean said "sir your lunch is ready should I serve it in the kitchen or will you have it in the den?" Miss Maclean asked
Johanna look at Jan
"I'll eat in my room" Jan said wheeling himself away glancing at Johanna as he seeks ways to escape her, 
Because of Jan's accident he has to abandon the luscious bedroom upstairs to be staying in a room down the hall on the first floor,
He has never eaten in his room before and this became a shock to miss Maclean "Yes sir" she said to his back before looking at Johanna.
"Ma'am your room is next to Mr Reeves's" miss Maclean informed Johanna
Johanna nod "thank you" she nod pulling the small suitcase she held in her hand she walk behind Jan to the room he entered the first room so Johanna believed the next open door was her when he wheel in and close the door she went in to the other room close the door as well "Ahhh!" Johanna breathe a sigh of relief as she stretched herself she look around the room the space comfy enough and it has a double window that opened towards the sunset and she has her own bathroom "wonderful!" she said on checking it out, it was spacious in the bathroom as well, what was  enough for the time when she'll be around hopefully not long though it depends on how willing the patient is to work with her, and beside she want to stay as long as can, Johanna sat on the bed and started thinking on Jan remembering those years back in high school the very first day she walked on campus  there he was tall and handsome she crush on him ever since but he didn't even know she existed,
Jan lift the fork of his face but didn't take a bite his mind was too on Johanna to think of nothing not even his hunger for he couldn't eat and he haven't even eaten from he had breakfast and that was only a slice of stake with some cheese sauce, that had worn-out a long time now, he can't believe that Johanna was in his house  staying he can't believe she's going to be looking after him his therapist if he had seen it coming, it's been years he didn't think he would see her ever again,
They had both hone through cristo rey new York high school and he had graduated a head of her and went straight into university  to study law that wasn't his life plan for h wanted to become a famous cycles he met Gary straight out of college and he knew about cycling and offered to manage him and since then they've been working together it's safe to say they are friends now, Jan  wondered if she had move or he wasn't lucky to see her, he had seen a few of their school mates  around even since he became this way he received visit from them no one had mentioned Johanna he wasn't sure if she remember him she shows no sign but he was sure he wasn't going to let her know that he remember her so well, Jan sigh as he took his first bite by this the meal was cold but he did his best to have it leaving no trace of anything that was on the plate.
Johanna found that the closest inside the room to the right corner of the bed was empty so she used it to store her few things she'll be staying for a while as she was told she's hired for full time until her patient has recovered if he does, she had learned the estimate of his damages they say he's practically disabled he can't feel anything from his waist, she imagine a guy like Jan Reeves a man of such status Johanna can remember how he was in high school and the girls he encountered with, he didn't look at her one bit and all she wanted was a chance to get what everyone else was getting a little bit of his time, but to her he didn't even know that she existed
She didn't think he remember her now not for a single bit, "Give him time" she thought, "he'll definitely remember me" she clap her arms on her thighs before getting up from the bed she decided to go catch a quick look around to see what, what the place look like, she exists the house, using a door down the passageway, stepping out she found that there was a pool, this seems to be a luxurious place, the pool seems to take over a portion of the very huge backyard,
Johanna looks around on the decor it was such an intimate decor something she has not seen before but it was pretty marvelous  she especially love the pool side design and even the pool design was cool, right next to the pool was a fancy gazebo and the jacuzzi owns a small place in a corner a step away from the gazebo was a bar with five layers of liquorshelfs, with  liquors  that seems to be so expensive she got closer to look and a man pops up from behind the counter "hello mam how are you?"
"Hi!" Johanna said frighteningly holding her chest she chuckle hard she didn't think anyone would be there,
"You must be Mr Reeves new therapist" the man utter,
"I'm afraid so" Johanna said
"That I thought, call me Ian" the man extended his arm,
"Johanna" Johanna said as she took it with a smile, the man seems to be in the age group of the woman that work in the house he was an jamerican man thick built and handsome and Johanna love his accent she smile,
"So?" He asked using a strong voice, "must I serve you drinks?" He asked using a softer voice
Johanna smile shook her head "maybe later when I'm settled in"
"You haven't settled in just yet?" He asked
"I haven't just yet"
"Well when you do I'm here" Ian told her
Johanna smile and left him there she went back inside  to see what to learn,  well Gary had told her what is expected of her given her a run down of her job description but it didn't say she'll need to start today as she was curtin that she's here so maybe she's to become familiar with things to do and not to do.
She had came back in the same way she had went out through the passage door she was just
coming  in to see Jan wheeling out from his room he glance at her but didn't say a thing Johanna was behind him going to the living room when a girl who like her seems to be in her late twenties called, "Mr Reeves is time for your medication" she said taking  a bottle from a tray she held in her hand, she noticed Johanna standing there and smirk "hi" she said
"Hello" Johanna reply
"I'm May Mr Reeves nurse" the woman said
"Johanna" Johanna said
The other woman suddenly look shy,
"Can I  have a look at those?" Johanna asked having studied medicine she knows  a few things about medication in conditions such as his, with her line of work she has to,  so far these were safe but not strong enough "how long since he's been taking this type of pills?" Johanna asked
Jan look from May to Johanna
"Doctor has these on the list since Mr Reeves accident" may say
On getting the answer Johanna nod,
Make Jan wondered what was it, but didn't asked
Mr Reeves miss kartwell dinner is ready" miss Maclean said
Johanna nodded
"Mr Reeves how would you like to be serve?" She asked knowing that earlier he ran off to eat lunch in his room,
"I'll come to the dinning room" Jan said make Johanna look at him,
She walk a head of him she look around the dinning room and sit at no specific spot but two chairs down was the space for Jan's wheelchair he wheel himself in and sat quietly as he was serve it was only him and Johanna at the large table as they eat he glance at her Johanna turn and saw him looking at her he turn when she look at him,
Johanna wasn't sure if Jan purposely make the fork and knife he used to eat clang to the pirate dish he ate from but it make a lot of noise she stop eating and watch him aware she was Jan didn't turn.
Dinner got over and Jan being the first of the two to leave the table miss Maclean started clearing away the table soon as he move since Johanna no longer eat she followed Jan out,
He got to the living room stop before the television and turn it on the news was on and he watch it Johanna sat close by and watch up until when he turned it off at the end of the weather report.
"Mr Reeves will you be ready to take your bath?" May came to the living room to asked
"Sure may I'm ready" Jan said it was almost nine now for he had watched the news for over an hour and now he could use some lying down, Jan has now turned to leave
"Should I have the water warmth sir?" May ask
"Yes May you may" Jan said
Johanna couldn't help the smile, she wanted to object about the warm bath but let it she didn't want to change things in a day but she knew that when the sessions starts he can't used warm water as he would like she don't want to rush him and besides rushing him into changing his lifestyle she'll need to rush into a conversation for they haven't event greet since she got here,
Jan wheel himself down to his bed room Johanna stayed and stare at the blank television until May come back up,
"May" Johanna called
"Yes" May answered
"Does Mr Reeves doctor comes often?" She asked
"He sees him for check up once a month" may answered
Johanna nod she watch May went off going to a room down the other end of the living room,
"Need anything miss Johanna?"
Miss Maclean asked
"No miss Maclean" Johanna answered
"Then I'll say goodnight" miss Maclean said
"Well good night" Johanna said and watched miss Maclean went off down the same way as May
She too got up and went down to her room but before going in she peek in at Jan who was laying in bed he held something that looks like a book but she couldn't see the cover so it was hard telling what type of book, she went in to her room and took a shower then try getting comfortable she knew tomorrow she'll have to get more done something for her first day was silent but she looks forward to her next day a better day a far better day with her thoughts she sigh a deep sigh rest her head and soon drift off to sleep.
