(A/N) I'm feeling like an evil author today so this is a songfic that will hopefully break your feels :)
Y'all are gonna hate me after this...

TRIGGER WARNING!
Well you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Leo sailed across the vast, black, ocean, a solemn look cemented on his face. He didn't really know how he should feel; Hurt? Angry?Betrayed?
No. He didn't feel any of that. He just felt guilty. And sad.

Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her go

Leo had left his beautiful girlfriend, (Y/n), to go chase after Calypso. He was so happy with (Y/n). He loved her so much. Why did he leave? Why was he so stupid?
Calypso was just so hauntingly beautiful. So perfect. But she never really cared about Leo. She was only interested in him until someone better and along.

Staring at the bottom of your glass
Hoping one day you'll make a dream last
But dreams come slow
And they go so fast

Leo had sailed for weeks trying to find Ogygia again, but when he finally arrived, he wished he had just stayed at Camp. Calypso was with another man. A better looking, probably smarter and richer man. She hadn't waited for him to come back. Maybe she didn't believe he really would. Or maybe she just didn't care about him.

You see her when you close your eyes
Maybe one day you'll understand why
Everything you touch surely dies

All Leo really wanted now was to be back at Camp with (Y/n). He wanted to feel her soft touch. He wanted to run his fingers through her (h/l) (h/c) hair. He wanted to hear her sweet voice. He wanted her.
But would (Y/n) want him? Leo had left her, in the middle of the night, without a word. He didn't even say goodbye.

But you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Leo's journey back to Camp took another few weeks, all of which he spent trying to come up with ways to explain himself to (Y/n).
I could lie and say I was kidnapped... No.... I could just come clean and tell her exactly what happened... But that would break her heart....
The whole Camp probably thought Leo was dead; and once (Y/n) found out the truth, she would probably wish he was dead.
Crap. Look at the mess you've put yourself in, Valdez. Crap. Crap. Crap.

Only know you love her when you let her go

The Argo II pulled up to Camp Half-Blood's shores on July 30th. Leo had been gone for almost four and a half months.
Leo could see campers staring at his ship. Some were jumping up and down excitedly. Others looked angry. Leo's eyes searches the crowd until they found (Y/n). Their eyes locked for half a moment before (Y/n) turned heel and sprinted to her cabin.
The sad, disappointed look on her face haunted Leo's conscience.

Staring at the ceiling in the dark
Same old empty feeling in your heart
Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast
Well you see her when you fall asleep
But never to touch and never to keep
Cause you loved her too much and you dived too deep

Leo hurried down the ladder and onto the beach. He wove through the crowd of Campers, promising to explain everything later, and ran after (Y/n).
He stopped outside her cabin door and took a deep breath before knocking.
A puffy-eyed girl with messy (h/c) hair opened the door.
"You left me for her, didn't you?"
