The group entered the bank they had to go through to get to the tunnels.
Joel: We need to get out of sight.
Henry pointed to the right of the building and said he thinks it's that way.
Y/N: Think?
Y/N looked at Ellie and shrugged.
They followed Henry in a hurry.
Soon enough they found a stairwell.Henry: This should be it.
You ready?Joel nodded and Y/N told Ellie to get her gun out.
They descended and went through a steel door. There was a tunnel way, it was empty.
Henry: See, the plan is good.
Joel: SHHH. "The plan is good"?
We've been down here two seconds. We don't know anything.Henry told Ellie her "dad" is a pessimist.
Ellie and Joel: He's not my dad|I'm not her dad.
Y/N: We don't have the time to talk about who's related to who. Henry, point your light forward, and be ready to run.
The group continued moving with Y/N in the front with his AK on full auto in case he has to provide cover fire.
When they made it to the end of the first section, the next door had painted walls surrounding it. It was painted to look like a castle land.
Sam was so interested that tried to go through the door. Joel told him no and held him back. Joel then opened the door slightly to make sure there was no danger before they all went through.
We they got through they were in shock and awe, it was a classroom, a pre-k classroom.
It was abandoned.Joel: I've heard about places like this. People went underground after Outbreak Day.
Ellie: What happened to them?
Y/N: My best guess is some of them went outside, got infected, came back here. So everyone had to leave-
Joel: Or they all got infected.
Y/N: Yeah.
Ellie and Sam sat down to play. But when Sam found Savage Starlight, Ellie was all in.
Ellie: No way! I love these!
Y/N smiled and Henry pulled up with twenty questions.
Henry spoke in a whisper.
Henry: She your girlfriend?
Y/N whispered back.
Y/N: No. Not yet at least.
Henry dropped the whispering tone and he playfully punched Y/N on the shoulder.
Henry: Okay, okay, I see you.
What they didn't know was that Ellie heard the whole exchange, they weren't as quiet as they thought.
Ellie smiled a little because Y/N said "yet".Joel wanted to get going but everyone else thinks it be better to wait until the light outside dims.
-
Joel gave them an 'as you wish' gesture.
Joel, Y/N, and Henry were watching Sam and Ellie play soccer.Joel: If you were colaboratin' to take care of him, I shouldn't have said what I said. I don't know your situation.
Y/N looked at Joel and asked him what was said.
Joel: Don't worry about it. You weren't payin' attention.
Y/N didn't press further, He didn't really care.
Henry: You know, I wasn't exactly telling the truth before.
Both Joel and Y/N gave him a 'WUT' look.
Henry: About me not killing someone. There was a man, a great man. You know, he was never afraid, never selfish, and he was always forgiving. Have either of you met someone like that? Kinda man you'd follow anywhere. I wanted to. Well, I would've. But, Sam, he got sick. Leukemia.
Joel and Y/N kept listening. This was obviously hard for him to talk about.
Henry: Anyway, there was one drug that worked, and whoa, big shock, there wasn't much left of it and it belonged to FEDRA. And if I wanted some, it was gonna take something big. . . . . so I gave them something big. That one great man. The leader of the resistance movement in Kansas City. So, still think they should take it easy on me? Or am I the bad guy?
Joel and Y/N didn't answer.
Henry: I don't know what you're waiting on. The answers easy.
Y/N: Is it? Because good or bad is a point of view. It became that way after the fall of society. If it were Joel or. . . that one over there.
Y/N pointed at Ellie.
Y/N: I would have done the same. We can't let go of those we care about, because they are all we have in this world, and we don't want anything to happen to them. We want to keep them safe. That is human nature. So no, I don't think you're the bad guy, but as I said, that's my point of view.
This didn't change how Henry viewed himself, but it helped. Henry stated that he knows Joel understands, he could tell that Joel is a father. But thats half correct, Joel was a father.
Joel decided they've waited long enough.
-
The group was walking outside, they were in a suburbs. Y/N loved night time walks. There was something about the night sky that just made him forget.
Sam asked Henry why they couldn't use their flashlights.
Henry replied back with sign language that it was because Joel said it would draw attention.
Sam said there is no one here.
Henry: Exactly. No one is here because my plan worked.
Y/N: There could be people waiting to ambush, never chalk up something as impossible.
Henry: I'm just saying, I delivered.
Make this right, go down the street, embankment behind the last house, and we're out.Ellie asked Henry what they do when they cross the river. He didn't know so she invited them.
Joel gave her the look.
Ellie: What? It's a big state, it can fit two more people.
Henry: Yeah, maybe after this we'll just say farewell.
Ellie: No, he'll change his mind. Here's how it goes. "No, Ellie. Never, ever, ever happening." And then I'm like, "I'm gonna ask you a million more times." and he's like-
They were cut of by a sniper shot. They quickly took cover behind a van.
Y/N: Sniper, based on the sound, it's military. So, not good. It doesn't matter where it hits. It'll kill.
Joel made the dumb move of looking to see where the shots are coming from. Thank God, he didn't get shot.
Henry was even dumber, he grabbed Sam to make a run from it. And ofcourse, he almost got shot. So they ran back to the van.
Henry: What do we do?
Joel: All right-
Joel saw Y/N was no longer there. They then heard full auto fire.
Joel: We do nothing.
