Jesse's POV:
I stared at Carter as she took a seat next to her parents, across from Arnold. I stood up a few feet behind him.
"Carter, you are our Princess. You need to accept this. These... creatures are not your creators. You do not belong with them. You need to rule our land Carter. There is no choice in this. I mean well, but I cannot fail Clambridge Carter. I am sorry. We must keep you safe. Take them away."
And with that, the guards stepped forward and lifted Carter's parents out of their chairs. They yelled and pulled back, but their strength was no match for the guards'.
Carter jumped up, screaming. She pulled at the guards' arms, but another one came up and grabbed Carter from behind, pulling her back. "No! No! You can't!" Gargled Carter, tears streaming down her face.
I averted my eyes, looking down until the guards had dragged Mandy and Patrick out of the room. Carter was on the floor, buried in herself.
Arnold's face was neutral. He didn't seemed disturbed to be hurting the Princess like this. "Take the Princess to her room. Tend to her needs, and help her wash up for dinner Jesse."
I stepped forward and nodded at Carter. She stood up stumbled out of the room with me. When we were out of sight, she pressed me against the wall and looked into my eyes with her tear- filled ones. "Where are they? Where did they take them?"
I shook my head. "I was not ordered to tell you Carter. I am sorry." I mumbled.
Carter groaned. "Tell me Jesse. What do you mean you weren't ordered? What, you can't tell me where the ones I love are? That's sick!"
"It is not my information to tell. It is Arnold's. Again, I am sorry. I know you are upset, but if I tell you, I will face severe punishments."
"Just take me home Jesse."
I shook my head. "I cannot. I am sorry. For now, follow me to your room, and we will get this all sorted out."
I escorted Carter down four grand halls, up six long spiral staircases, and then another long hall. At the end was a glass door with crystals embedded into it. I unlocked it with my key, and helped her over the large step.
Carter's face was shocked. She looked around at the grand snow white double bed, the crystal chandeliers, and marble floor and counters.
"Beautiful isn't it?"
Carter nodded. "Yes, yes it is..."
There was an outfit laid out on her bed. A brown and blue beautiful dress with ruffles. It had red buttons going down the front, and the collar had shiny gems dotted on it.
"I will leave you to get changed. Please, don't break anything. I will meet you later, please stay in here for the time being."
I bowed and strolled out the door.
Carter Rose's POV:
I looked at myself in the mirror. My face was bare. I looked pretty awful, with red puffy eyes, and purple bags under them. My hair was in a tangled ponytail, and my body was weak.
I changed into the dress that had been given to me. It actually looked very nice. Then, I heard a knock at the door. Jesse was quick...
I opened it and saw three people. Well, half faeries. They smiled at me and then bowed. "Miss Carter, we are here to help clean you up before dinner. Please allow us."
I sat down on a stool in the middle of the room as the faeries helped with my hair and face. It felt like forever.
Where were my parents? What had they done to them? I couldn't stand for this! I wouldn't let this happen! This isn't my home! I want to go home... I want to go home... I want to go home...
Before I knew it, tears were pooling my eyes. I wiped them away before the hair and make-up faeries noticed.
When they were done, they bowed and kissed both my cheeks before walking out of the door. I looked at myself in the bathroom mirror. I did look beautiful. My hair was in a stunning side braid that looked messy, but glamorous at the same time. The makeup that was used was made of all natural ingredients. I guess that's what they use here. My face looked beautifully clear, my eyelashes were black and longer, and my lips were a cherry pink. Is this my dinner look? Wow...
I stayed in the room for about another hour, exploring it and everything in it. There was lamp that was made out of the tortoise shell, and the food in the cupboard was like a whole different world. I hadn't tried it yet, but it looked like something completely different.
When I was lying on my bed, staring up at the cream ceiling, there was another knock on the door.
I opened it, and Jesse smiled at me, but then his eyes popped wide and his smile dropped a bit. He quickly recovered by smiling again. "You look beautiful Princess. May I escort you to dinner?"
I nodded. I wanted to run from the room and go and find my parents, but I know that wasn't an option. We walked through a few halls and down one set of stairs. The hall was massive. There was a large table with plates and plates of food laid out. It all looked so alien.
"Enjoy." Said Jesse as he turned to walk away.
I quickly grabbed his arm and yanked him back. "Wait! Where are you going?"
"To do my job Carter. I don't eat with you. I'm not worthy."
I groaned and pulled him into the room, closing the door behind me. I sat him opposite me.
"Carter, I'm going to get into big trouble."
"Well, I am Princess, and I want you to sit with me, so you have to." I said, as I tucked into my dinner.
Oh My Gosh! Chicken stuffed with blueberry sauce, apple toppings and other delicious things. It was amazing. Food back home was nothing like this. Wow!
Jesse looked very uncomfortable opposite me.
I smiled at him as he tucked in. I think I'm starting to like him. He seems like a good friend...right?
