A/N: shorter chapter because I need to get everyone in their places before the final showdown lol.

THIRD PERSON

In twenty-three minutes, the clock will strike midnight. About an hour ago, Rumi and Present Mic left with Kai to go pick up Kaina from a few towns out, prying information out of him on the way there. Aizawa and Tomura, on the other hand, left with Himiko to go pick up Dabi and Hawks, though Mic stayed on the phone with Aizawa the whole time. It was decided that it was better for Fatgum to stay at the restaurant with Eri and Hitoshi, so now Fatgum is helping them bake a few different desserts to keep their minds off of everything.

Hitoshi and Fatgum subtly work at trying to get Eri to explain what exactly Kai did to have her legally removed from the home, but for the past hour, she's been avoiding talking about it. So Hitoshi and Fatgum give up and instead put on some music as the Bar & Grill's kitchen is filled with the sugary sweet scent of brownies, cookies, pie, and cake.

In the car on the way to Keigo's apartment, Himiko stretches out in the backseat, brushing wisps of her messy blonde hair out of her face. "Next week is supposed to be my first day of school," she blurts out of nowhere. "I'm still gonna get to go, right Mr. Aizawa?"

"What?" Tomura sputters. "Since when are you starting school?"

"I pulled a few strings for her," Aizawa explains. "The principal at the local district's high school is an old friend of mine, for lack of better words."

"But what about the band?" Tomura says, trying to hide the way his voice quivered with anxiety. "You're not- you're not quitting, right?"

"No, of course not!" Himiko beams. "The band is my family, dummy! I would never quit! But since Jin is still in jail and Nug apparently got a girl pregnant, I thought that maybe... Wait, you're not upset with me, right? I won't go if you don't want me to, I just thought–"

"No, no, I want you to go," Tomura interrupted. "I mean, if you wanna go, then I want you to go. I just don't know why you didn't tell me."

"I told Spinner to tell you," Himiko pouts.

"That's not my point," Tomura says. "I mean we could've gotten you into school sooner."

"Nah, it's a pain-in-the-ass process," Aizawa blurts. "When my kid Hitoshi got expelled and had to switch schools, it took forever, even though we had all the right paperwork and shit. If I didn't have these sorts of connections, Himiko probably would've had to go back to freshman year where she left off, and even then, she probably wouldn't have gotten accepted anywhere because she doesn't have any legal guardians."

"Actually, I'm pretty sure she's filed as Mange's adopted daughter," Tomura says. "Right? Either Magne or Compress."

"It's Magne," Himiko agrees. "But she's gotten into trouble in legal trouble, too, so either way it would've been tough."

"Well either way," Aizawa says, "I'm glad you can finish up school. It'll be good for you to interact with other kids your age."

"I know! I'm so excited!" Himiko cheers. "I hope I meet a pretty boy! Or a really handsome girl! Time to see if my voice works wonders beyond singing."

"Ew, Himiko! Stop it!" Tomura gags. "You're like twelve! That's disgusting!"

"I'm seventeen!" Himiko wails. "And it's not disgusting, meanie! You just have no taste!"

The two bicker for a little while longer, but it morphs into Himiko teasing Tomura and Tomura trying to hide his embarrassment.

When they arrive at Keigo's apartment, all the lights are out. Aizawa, not giving a shit, tells the two band members to wait in the car. He takes his time going up the steps, fishing out the spare key to Keigo's apartment he was given in case of emergencies. Keigo had been adamant about being treated as an adult rather than a child, so Aizawa and Mic stopped their late-night check-ins. But every now and then they'd text Keigo, ask him if he was eating and sleeping alright. And they never got rid of the spare key, just in case.
