I'm feeling bold today and I decided to tell Ryan how I feel. I started writing a paragraph to send to him, because I wasn't going to see him for two weeks due to spring break.
I basically wrote the same thing as in my letter, but I decide to put it in my private notes until after work.
When I was done working, I checked my phone and I saw that Owen had messaged me. It was a short but clear message: "I'm in love with you, McKayla."
I was too stunned to speak and had no idea what to say. Ryan and I had been a thing for the past four months now, how was I supposed to react when his best friend confessed feelings for me?!
I just told him that I liked him a lot as a friend and that he was one of my best friends, but that it could never turn into more than friendship. I leave the part about Ryan out, it would cause him a lot of pain.
I copy my message from my notes, paste it and send it to Ryan. I feel my heart pounding in my chest when I see my screen changing from "delivered" to "opened".
