I had just enough time to put some clothes on before my doorbell rang. I'm standing right in front of him in my living room right now. He's lucky my parents and sister are out of town for the weekend, otherwise I would have a lot of explaining to do.
"I'm sorry I just showed up. I really need you right now." I don't know what to respond to that. I've needed him for months now but he never seemed to care about that... I stare at my feet and refuse to make eye contact. I'm afraid of the feelings that might be brought to the surface by doing that.
He starts talking about last night. "I told Maxine about you and me. It was stupid of me to tell her, because we can't trust her at all. I was weak and she knew that, she got it out of me really quickly. I was doubting wether or not I should give it another chance with her, so I wanted to be honest."
That last sentence absolutely breaks my soul. I look at him in disbelief and I wish he would take those words back. But he doesn't and I am still too stunned to speak.
"I said I was doubting it. Last night only made it clear that I don't want her. You were the only one I was thinking about for the entire night. I couldn't get you out of my head, that's why I'm here, McKayla... To tell you that I love you."
