" I got the job. I needed change of scenery. Yeah that's it," Chrystal confided.
"Lucky you. This is my job number five"
"You act mature and responsible "
"Thanks. My husband thinks so too."
She ordered them chicken wings and rice.
"I will pay"she reassured Chrystal.
"I like you. You remind me of when I first came here. Here" she gave her a form."I am officially inviting you to our women club "
"Is it for office ladies "
Brytal laughed.
"No it's for women in different walks of life. Are you single or married?"

"I am single. Recently I broke up with my boyfriend who is a farmer "
Brytal yawned.
On Sunday, January 20th, Chrystal locked the door to her apartment. She hid the key under the flower pot.
It was two weeks since she had started working. Lucky for her Brytal had directed her to an apartment that was available in her building. She had rented the room after a chat with the landlord.
Brytal had also loaned her some money as a start-up. She smoothed her crimson skirt and tucked in her pink blouse with white collar frills. Her red wedges fit her perfectly. She checked her pink handbag and sighed with relief. She was now a working girl and she liked it.
She went down the stairs and knocked on Brytal's door.
"Coming!"
Brytal's apartment was on the ground floor. Next to her apartment werr two other apartments. Half the building had a car pack.
Brytal had easy access to the car pack and backyard where they hung their washing.
It being a Sunday most of the residents were in with adults conversing, while small children played in the backyard. Most of the residents worked in various businesses around the town.
The building was relatively new. It had four floors.Each floor had six apartments.It had running water and close to it was an orchard owned by a prominent farmer.
Beautiful scents of flowering trees wafted across the fence especially when there was a soft breeze. In January heavy scent of ripe mangoes often tempted children to pick up the mangoes that hang heavily on the branches close to the compound. Today was no exception. A few children had two to three mangoes stuffed in their pockets while they enjoyed a mango.
The door opened.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. I was adjusting my new dress. It was a bit loose . Here hold this while I get my handbag,"she gave her a bottle of wine.
She went back inside and came out with her handbag. She wore a black simple elegant dress with small puffed sleeves and chunky midnight blue belt. Her black handbag matched her midnight blue heels.
They walked to the road and stopped a taxi.
Brytal directed the driver. They took the road west and after one kilometer they reached their destination. They left town and entered farm land with tilled land and pasture with grazing animals.
"Stop here,"said Brytal. A black iron gate was half open and they got out of the car and paid the driver.
"They must be expecting me. I didn't want to take my car Incase I drunk some."
"Do you often drink with these...... friends?"
"No silly. It just that Brent has a wine cellar and I take advantage of that whenever I come here. His wine is the best. You should too. I am sure you will enjoy."
Brytal closed the gate.
"Here Brytal. Some of the money you lent me. I am really grateful."
"Good. Always pay your debt. This will save you from a lot of trouble."
"Let's go inside. All this talk has made me feel hungry. Karie always makes some sweet muffins,"she said and they walked down a path with pink rose hedges. Brytal picked one and pinned it on her hair,  Brytal did the same and they laughed.
"Don't we just look sweet,"she said.
"What are you two laughing about?"
They turned to see a brown girl with a sweet heart face smiling at them. She had a white summer dress and a big blue belt which sparkled.
"Karie , since when do you reprimand your guests,"they both hugged.
"Hello. I am Chrystal "
"Hello. Come in we were all waiting for you. You are late"
"Mmmm.. fashionably late my dear. Take this and put it in the cellar. It's a n exchange. I am parched."
"Brytaaal..."said Karie and she took the bottle.
They entered the house.
A spacious living room had three lime green sofas.
"Deringue. Hello. Mrs Ndolo."
Brytal hurried to greet two tall women who sat on one of the sofa. One had a red flowered maxi dress and was younger of the two. Brytal shook her hand first. The other had a green kimono dress.
"Guys. This is Chrystal. I will leave you to get acquinted. I have unfinished business with Karie. I am going to help her choose today's wine ."
She took a muffin from the tray and left.
"Come,sit with us. I am Deringue. "
"Thanks"
"Take a muffin,"said Deringue offering her a muffin.
She took her first bite.
