My lungs fill with smoke.

"Ew,"

I mutter as I make my way across the bridge. My head tells me to try to go back, but something is pulling me, keeping me moving forward. I try to climb over the side of the bridge to get a better view of a possible escape, but I'm too short to get my legs over the top. I sigh and jump down.

The air feels hot and humid, making me dizzy and nauseous. I call out again, checking if anyone is nearby, but I don't hear anything besides distant wind.

When I make it to the end of the bridge, I step off, onto the soft dirt floor. It smells worse somehow but feels better on my socked feet. I clench my fists, realising I'm still holding the note.

Apollo,

I don't have much time because it's almost here. Just remember. You need to escape. Get out. Whatever you do, don't trust anyone or give anyone anything that's yours. No matter what they say or how convincing they are, they don't want to help you. They want to keep you trapped here. Don't listen. Shut them out. You need to remember. Remember everything and don't let it catch you. It's fast, but you're faster. You can make it out if you trust me. I prOmiSe yoU/#%

I'm not sure how I didn't let go of it, but I tuck it in my pocket, just in case. It gives me an uneasy feeling, but my heart believes it, and right now, I don't have much else to believe.

I arrive at a thick forest with a cleared-out entryway. There are vines surrounding the area and no apparent way out. With no other direction to head, I make my way into the trees.

The smell keeps getting worse, but there is nowhere else to go, especially because I have no idea how to get back now. Every direction looks the same, so I keep guessing which way to go.

The forest is dark, only lit by small glowing objects hanging off the trees. I turn left, but everything looks the same so it's hard to navigate. I sigh, getting dizzy from the lack of oxygen in the repugnant air.

A rustle emits from the bush behind me, the first sign of life I've seen.

"Who's there?"

I exclaim quietly, hoping whatever it is will leave, or not cause any harm to me. Could this be what the person in the note told me about? I try to run, but I'm too dizzy. It seems like the trees are closing in on me. My heart pounds in my chest.

"It's just in your head,"

I gasp, the air feeling thinner by the second. I see a small animal-like figure dash in front of me. My eyes are closing but no matter how much I try to open them, I can't. It's like I don't have control over my body. Something brushes near my feet. I can't breathe...

It's been a second, innit? Sorry for the late chapter.

Keep him going.
