I sank deeper into my coat, happy that I had wrapped my scarf around my head, even if it was extremely hot inside this elevator. Or was that just me?
It probably was the three brothers that walked into the lift right now, three men I had never ever met before.
Remington was so close that if my body did not stop all of this swaying soon, I would fall right into him. I did not want that to happen, because I had no clue how any of the people in this elevator would react, me included.
Part of me was desperate just to turn around, greet Remington with a smile and introduce myself to his brothers. But once again, my mind jumped back to how he had told me, just a few days ago, that no one could know about us. How only last night, his eyes nervously darted across the hallway, hoping that his brothers wouldn't see us together. So I did nothing of that sort. Instead, I covered my hand with my face, pretending my eyebrow was itching.
My eyes quickly shot to Remington's youngest brother, through my fingers. After the party in London, only mere days ago, I was sure he would recognise me. What would I say if he asked me what I was doing here, in the same hotel, going to the same floor as they were? Fuck, why had I already pressed the button?
I did everything in my power to turn away, to make them not look at me. My phone was an amazing distraction, even if I had nothing to do with it. I opened my chat with Mel.
Hello babeeeeee
I need to look busy
So hello
How r u doing????
I'm currently stuck in an elevator with r and his brothers and I do not know if they know about me
lml
Mel did not reply, but I did not care. I just needed to look like I was belonging here, in this hotel. I was just on my way to my room, which definitely was not the same one as one of the other people in this small space.
Then, a new message rolled in, but not from my best friend. I almost rolled my eyes as I saw who it was from. Remington.
Who are you texting??
Not me, sadly
I pressed my hands to my lips because I had almost giggled like a schoolgirl. Tingles flared up in my abdomen, making my cheeks burn. He really was walking the line here, texting me right now. But I was walking that exact same line. I liked him doing it. Furiously, I started typing a response, peeking at him from the corner of my eyes.
Eye roll
A few seconds later, his reply rolled in.
You look really cute tho, trying to hide your face like that
I felt something race through my body, a feeling I could not explain. He had called me cute! But people our age didn't call each other cute, not unironically. I had to remember that.
You really shouldn't call me that. I WILL payback
The corners of Remington's lips curled upward, and a grin echoed through the room.
"What's so funny?" Sebastian asked.
"Nothing." Remington was typing again.
Give me your worst
After a few seconds, the next text rolled in, and the doors of the elevator opened.
Go left, rooms are right and wait
I followed his instructions, letting the three brothers leave the small room before me, and turned left. I slowly walked into the hallway. There were only a few doors there, so I fumbled with the keycard in my hands, pretending to get into a room that wasn't mine.
