It was a worthwhile wait for the potato mochi. I couldn't help but silently drool at the scent as my hearing could hear praises of the cooking, and how the mochi never fails to please. Rei had to point at the corner of my lip to show I was drooling. I cleared my throat and wiped off the drool in embarrassment, muttering a soft apology for the momentary lack of mannerisms. My thoughts wandered slightly about how I was showing signs of disrespect; already overthrowing that I may have to work for my food from now on because of this. With my hand never leaving my face, I felt my face grow warm.

My thoughts cut off on their own when my eyes wandered to the dishes on the table. I recognize the bowls in front of each of us as Shiruwan bowls, with the cups being yunomi tea cups. The smaller bowls to the sides had a dish and some that I didn't recall having in my life, or time for that matter. The whole dish set on the table had a nostalgic vibe that I couldn't shake off my head. It reminded me of the last time I had my powers sealed away and had been sent to a magic-less world. I had to buy my stuff and live off of a free home that some stranger bestowed on me then. But now, I might have to work my way to the luxury of such lucky things.

"Professor Laventon, where exactly did you meet our… visitor here?"

"Hm?" My thoughts were caught off upon hearing Akari's voice. I tilted my head slightly, showing figuratively that I didn't hear her.

"Ah, well," Laventon started speaking. "You know of that great hole in the sky? The one people call the space-time rift?" Laventon asked with a smile. Akari and Rei nodded at his words. "Our new friend here fell right out of it!" I hesitantly nodded, still covering my eye with one hand while trying to readjust my hair to cover my blind eye with the other. It was a poor attempt to distract myself from the two's gaze, but it was better than doing nothing, I suppose. After a couple of seconds, I just decided to reach into my bag with the hand used to readjust my hair, grab some ribbon-looking bandages, wrap it over my eye and around my head, and carefully under my bangs to make the bandages not slide off.

"You can't be serious," Rei spoke in disbelief, not even taking Laventon seriously on the topic. Both of the incarnations were in denial of what the purple hat-wearing man confessed. "Nuh-uh!" Akari agrees with Rei on that one. Laventon could only nod in response as my attention span started to slip away again.

"Come now— I am a scientist!" My gaze returned to Laventon once I tightened the ends of the bandages at the back of my head. "My job is to observe and explain any and all phenomena. I concern myself only with facts!" He looked up and closed his eyes, showing a soft yet proud smile for his occupation. I couldn't help but share the smile as well, remembering feeling that way about my first job before. "Now, you already know there are many Pokémon here in the Hisui Region…"

"That there are— in the grass, in forests, by water, or wherever they like. Our job as the Survey Corps is to research them and find out what kind of creatures they are!" Rei speaks confidently, only mirroring a nod with Akira. They both looked at Laventon, keeping close attention on their conversation.

"Well, we know this much… Pokémon are terrifying creatures! It's all but impossible to know what kinds of powers they might possess or what sorts of wondrous things they can do!" …. I CAN'T tell if he's excited or scared anymore. But do I worry about it? Probably not, but it's best to keep note of his gestures and how he words things. Might help with surviving here, right??? "But that's where Zhuqiao will come in! She successfully caught three Pokémon! Three of them in quick order, you understand!" I smiled more warmly at that comment, receiving sounds of surprise from the twins.

"Three!? We have a hard enough time catching even one when wild Pokémon come after us…" Akira shakes her head, receiving a shocked agreement from Rei. Laventon and I understood what they were saying, but me catching three adorably harmless starters is different compared to what these twins experienced. Laventon went on to explain the more obvious detail they may have overlooked.
