I rinsed off my body and looked up at Ghost. He was staring down at me as he washed off his body.
"You look good without your mask."
"Hmm."
He turned the water off and stepped out.
I followed and winced from the pain downstairs.
He helped me dry off and we got dressed.
"Time to go back to base. I don't think I need to say this but this never happened."
I looked at the dents in the wall that the bed frame made just last night.
"Yeah. It never happened."
We got into the car and Ghost drove us back to base.
It was silent the whole way back.
"Hey, YN! How was the zoo?" Soap ran over as Ghost brushed past us, disappearing behind the wall.
"It was alright. He didn't let me fight or play with anyone but he did buy me this elephant plushie!" I held up my grey friend and Soap let out an Aw.
"What's up with Ghost?" Gaz walked over and took the elephant from me.
"He's just Ghost being Ghost."
"He seems more... broody then usual."
"He had to spend a day with me, how did you expect him to come back?"
"Ah, YN, how are you? You came just in time to meet our temporary new member. His name is Konig."
"Whoa." I looked up at him in amazement. "How tall are you?"
"I'm , 6'10...."
Aww, he's shy!
"You're bigger than Ghost. That's pretty cool. Maybe you can help me beat him up!"
"Oh, I would never beat up a fellow soldier!"
Wow, he's nervous.
Must have social anxiety.
"If you don't want to, I can do it alone."
"I'm not so sure that's a good idea, miss...?"
"YN LN."
"That's a beautiful name, YN."
I smiled and glanced behind Konig.
Ghost was staring at me.
Everyone followed my gaze and Konig jumped.
"Lieutenant! It's a pleasure to see you again!"
"Konig." He nodded.
"He says it's nice to see you too. He's just got a stick up his ass, don't worry, love."
"Love!?" Konig turned red from under his mask.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
"Ah...I'm not uncomfortable. Just caught off guard."
I yawned and took the elephant back from Gaz.
"I'm exhausted. I'll be going to take a nap."
"Busy night?" Price smirked.
"Ghost and I were fighting for the bed. Didn't get much sleep when I was shoved off every five minutes."
"Hmph." Ghost huffed.
I looked at him.
Wanna tell them what really happened?
He looked away and I yawned.
"Goodnight y'all."
After my nap, I got up and exited my room.
Ghost was reading a book on his bed and looked up at me.
He didn't say anything. He just stared.
"Can I help you?"
"No, you can't."
"Okay."
I walked out the door and found Konig walking towards me, fidgeting with his hands.
"Ah. YN. Captain Price sent me to call you both to dinner."
"Oh, alright. GHOST, GET YOUR ASS UP IT'S CHOW TIME!"
"YN! You can not speak to the lieutenant like that!"
"Why not? He's a bitch."
"Let's see how much of a bitch I am when I break your arm."
"NO!" Konig pulled me behind him and put his arms out to shield me. "She was only joking, lieutenant! She did not mean that!"
My heart fluttered. I've never had anyone defend or stand up for me.
I smiled gently and took Konig's hand. He was shaking.
"Come on, love. Let's go eat."
I pulled him along and left Ghost behind in the hall.
