Alexandra Phillips

"A watched phone never rings Alex." My mother said realizing I had been sitting at the table waiting for my phone to ring, for a while now. "Are you waiting for that guy from last night to give you a call?" she asked me.

"Yes, ugh!" I got up and turned my phone face down, before I walked over to the fridge to grab a drink. "I'm so silly, why would I think a man like him would call me?"

"There you go overreacting again." She said, taking a seat at the table.

"I'm not overreacting, it's just... if he really wanted to talk to me he would've called already. Even to just say that he was home safely."

"Guys think differently from us darling. Give it some time, he will call you I promise."

"Who will call?" Rochelle asked, walking into the kitchen. To think that she had just woken up and was already being nosy. I rolled my eyes and popped open my Fiji water; taking a sip. Nya trailed in behind her and waved at us, before putting her head against her mom's leg.

"That guy that you brought here last night. Alex has been waiting for a call from him all afternoon." My mother said snitching. The moment she looked over at me and realized that I wasn't pleased, she got up and made her way out of the kitchen.

"Oh, really?" Ro said, coming over to where I stood. "Did you ask me?"

"No I didn't, but it's not even that serious so you have nothing to worry about."

"Well, if aunty says you're sitting here watching a phone it must be something serious." She folded her arms and leaned against the island, forcing eye contact with me. "You like him?"

"Chilll!" I sang, taking another sip of water. "I don't even know him like that."

"So what's going on?"

"I just think he's cute that's all! I want to get to know him... but ... I don't even think he's interested."

Rochelle laughed, and I looked down immediately. "you need to grow some confidence if you want a man like Alonzo." "Daddy?" Nya said, cutting in. "Yes daddy" Rochelle answered before she grabbed a banana from the fruit basket and handed it to her. "Go ask aunty to help you with this." She instructed. Nya gave it a strange look before her little legs walked out of the kitchen. "Like I was saying, Alonzo is big on confidence. You can't constantly talk yourself down around a man like him. Not to mention; I saw the way he was taking care of you last night. I wouldn't say he isn't interested just yet."

"Wait... are you giving me permission to go after him?"

"I don't see why not," she shrugged "it's quite obvious that him and I will never be together again. I want nothing but the best for Alonzo because I have seen him at his worst and to be honest, I know I'm best for him but you're the next best thing."

"Shut up!" I said, shoving her.

"No but for real, go for it. Alonzo is a good guy, I know you and I know him. You two would blend perfectly together." She smacked her lips, "and when you make love to him...." She rolled her eyes back, acting a mess as usual. I shoved her again. "I'm not even worried about that right now. I just wanna get to know him."

"Which you will. With your attitude though, you're bound to get that act right."

"Ewww. Now this is weird!" I said, making a face.

"I'm just letting you know... Alonzo is blessed with that good d−"

"Okay!" I shouted, "get ready, let's go to the mall."
