We walked out of the kitchen to see my parents talking to Blake's. "I'm very sorry my idiot of a daughter ran away like that. She has never been much other than a coward."
Blake smiled. "I'd have to disagree. Olivia faces a lot with only her courage as a defense. She's a courageous girl."
"Hey man, where were you? You left us with the adults, your "brother," and some pretty boy." Toby frowned at Jonathan, and I almost smiled. Rich guys always thought it was the other guy who was being a prick.
My father choked out a smile. "Let's all take our seats. I hope the meal will be up to everyone's standards." He shot William a glare.
The meal took place in utter silence from me. Blake talked loudly with Toby and Jake while our parents discussed business. Blake's brother and Jonathan seemed to find some common ground about halfway through.
"Well, my sincerest compliments to whoever made this cake. The icing is delightful." Blake's mother gave a genuine smile, the first I'd seen from an adult in this house in ages.
My father glared at me, silently warning me to make the rest of the night go smoothly however I had to. "Well, why don't you kids go into the living room to have some fun of your own?" I nodded and led Blake, his brother, his friends, and Jonathan into the den.
"You dude, do you know what that butler used to make that cake? It was delicious." Jake was practically foaming at the mouth. Jonathan scoffed and walked out, leaving for his room.
"He didn't. I'm the one that made the cake. It's just homemade frosting and real chocolate, I don't see the big deal." Blake stared at me.
"I didn't know you could bake." Blake's brother was looking around the room before he turned to me. "You shouldn't dismiss it, you have a talent." I blushed, tucking my hair behind my ear.
"Come on, man, you don't have to try that hard to get into her pants. She's probably thankful. I mean, no one else wants to." Toby laughed, and I didn't miss Blake's annoyed look. Why does everything I do annoy him?
"Screw off, Toby, I'm allowed to compliment people when they do well." Blake's brother rolled his eyes.
"Thank you," I mumbled, shuffling my feet.
"Is it so uncommon for you to receive praise? I would assume someone like you would have piles of it." He stepped closer, lifting my chin with his finger, so I was looking at him. "You're a gorgeous girl."
Blake put a hand on his brother's shoulder. "Ease up on the flattery, Dylan. We're not here for that."
William walked into the room, looking cautiously at the scene. "You're mother wanted me to make sure everything was going well. Where's Jonathan?"
"He went upstairs." I was still completely tense and staring at Dylan with wide eyes.
William sighed. "That little brat. Alright, I won't tell your mother. Is everything else alright in here?" I nodded meekly. "It doesn't look alright." He gave Blake a pointed look.
I stepped back. "I'm fine William. Really, I am. I'm just entertaining our guests. Dylan was complimenting my cooking." I weakly smiled.
"Okay, just... call if you need anything." He walked back out, his eyes still focused on the scene.
