"I knew you weren't messing around, Lieutenant Handsome," Katrina said wearing a proud smile and a warm heart.

Bliss's smile was brighter than the sun and Connor's joy was literally infectious.

After sharing many moonlight kisses, dancing under the stars, and almost being swept away by love and waves, Connor took Bliss home.

He wanted to drive to a Pastor and marry Bliss so they wouldn't have to part, but he chose to take her home.

After walking her to the door, he promised to see her in the morning.

Now, by God, the long midnight hours had passed and they were together again.

Bliss called her mother the moment she made it home last night to share the news.

She was buzzing. Over the moon. Blissful.

Everything was perfect.

"No, ma'am. I couldn't have dragged my feet for a second with this precious daughter of yours." Connor answered, beaming. "If I had it my way, we would've been married last night as well." He said lowly, making Katrina laugh.

Bliss shook her head at his silliness, though the idea would've been fine with her.

"Well," Katrina started with a gentle smile.

Her heart was full.

Bliss was marrying the greatest man.

She knew this was God's handiwork, she'd seen His work before.

"I just have to say, this news blessed my heart. Bliss, you're marrying a good man. He's after God's heart, and that makes him the best candidate for you." She took Bliss's hand. "And you'll make a fine wife, darling." She kissed her cheeks and admired her ring. "Oh, Lord, I'll be a grandmother, yet!"

Connor lifted his hands with gladness. "Thank you, Mrs. Harrison. You've raised such a perfect woman. And you'll be in good company with my parents, they're looking forward to grandchildren," He couldn't find the words to express his happiness.

It didn't seem real.

Bliss was going to be his wife.

It happened without a hitch.

His phone began to ring, but he couldn't find it in himself to be annoyed.

However, at the sight of the caller, he knew there would be nothing but trouble.

"I'm sorry, I have to take this." He apologized and stepped out of the house.

It was Chief Marcus.

"Connor, how are you?" He asked chipperly.

Connor sighed and tried to fight his judgmental thoughts.

Chief Marcus always brought sunshine before presenting the storm.

"I'm great, sir. I just got engaged, so I'm spending the day with my fianceé." He answered honestly.

Though he was annoyed, he didn't mind sharing the blessed news.

"Oh! That's great news, son. Congratulations," Chief Marcus said sincerely. "You know, I hate to do this." He sighed, making Connor grit his teeth. "Johnson didn't show earlier. He must've had some car troubles. I'm gonna need you to come in his place. Can you get here in thirty minutes? Thank you." Chief Marcus ended the call without an answer.

Connor was done.

The man found a way to interrupt precious time with Bliss.

He didn't want to see her face when he told her the news.
