Chapter 8

Chapter 7 was what i had already written and had on ao3 and transferred over here but this is the new chapter I just finished! so whatever chapter come from now on those are new...

And depending on the feedback I get from this fic I'll update more constantly if people want it

JJ licked his hand and hand it through his hair to slick it back the best he could. He wasn't dressed that nicely since he didn't have many nice clothes but he wanted to try and make a good impression so he wore a white shirt with a pair of jeans which was new for him. He didn't really like wearing anything outside of his khaki cargo shorts.

He texted Kiara that he was here before walking up to the white fence. The woman greeted him a moment later and opened the fence door "Come in" she said and he did. He looked around and saw a lot of people. Two men were by the grill handling the cooking, children were running around and playing on the swing set that was in the backyard, and people were everywhere talking.

"Food is almost done but there are snacks set out," she said gesturing to the table full of snacks. Kie grabbed his arm and grabbed him with her "I want to introduce you to my friend I don't think you two ever properly met."

"Sarah" she called out and he saw a blonde woman turn toward them "This is JJ."

"So I've heard and seen, I'm Sarah," she said and JJ nodded "Nice to meet you."

"JJ why don't you go over there with my husband and his friend by the grill while Kiara and I talk" she pointed. JJ didn't really know anyone so it was a little awkward being asked to go talk to a stranger he didn't know but he nodded anyways and made his way toward the grill.

"You must me JJ" Topper said looking at the man. The blonde looked toward him "That's me."

"I'm Topper, and this is Kelce," he said gesturing toward the guy next to him. Kelce raised his beer and nodded his head at JJ who nodded his head back.

"Heard Kie is having your baby" Topper looked at him before looking at the grill and clipping the burgers he had on it.

"She is," he said putting his hands in his pockets. Kelce chuckled "What a trip man."

"Incoming" Topper said and JJ turned to see Kiara hugging two older people "Who are they?" he asked and Topper chuckled "That would be Kie's parents," he said and JJ swallowed.

"Good-luck man" he patted his back.

Kiara waved him over and he nodded before slowly making his way over to the three of them. Kie looked at her parents "Mom dad this is JJ."

"Nice to meet you I'm Anna and this is my husband, Mike," Kiara's mom said but she didn't look happy to meet him.
The woman's dad just nodded at him respectfully.

"So there's actually something I need to tell you and I thought since we are at a party with a lot of people and you two don't like making scenes I would tell you here," she said and her parents looked at her weirdly.

"Okay..." Anna said unsurely.

"Let's sit over here," Kie said and brought her parents over to the picnic table. Anna and Mike sat on one side while Kie and JJ sat on another.

"What? Did you two get married or something?" Anna looked between JJ and Kie.

"No this isn't something that can be fixed with a divorce," JJ said earning a kick to the shin by Kie.

"Uh..." Kie swallowed and looked down at her hands "I'm pregnant" she said just wanting to get the truth out.

Anna and Mike just stared at their daughter with a blank expressions. Mike finally looked to JJ before standing up "Follow me son" he said his voice trying to sound calm but they all could hear the fury behind it.

"What why" Kiara stood up.

"I'm going to beat his ass, not here in front of people of course."

"No! you aren't going to do that I told you so I could have some emotional support not so you could kill my baby's father! I'm not a baby anymore Dad it's not like I'm 17 telling you I'm pregnant I'm 25!"

"She's right Mike" Anna put a hand on her husband's arm to calm him down. The man sat down and took a deep breath "How far along are you."

"3 months almost four" Kie said.

"And how do you plan on providing for this baby?" he asked looking between the two.

"I work at a marine life institute Dad... the pay is good plus JJ is getting a job everything is going to work out fine."

"What job do you have?" he asked JJ.

"I'm still lookin' sir."

"You're going to work for me I own the wreck you will be my dishwasher I'll pay you enough that you can support... the baby," he said leaving no room for objection. JJ looked to Kiara who gave him a look.

He cleared his throat "Uh thanks mike" he said.

"You can call me Mr. Carrera," he said before standing up. Ana soon followed after her husband. The two stood by the fence gate and it looked like they were now in a heated argument. Kiara sighed "That went better than I was expecting," she said. JJ looked at her "That was a good reaction for you?
he wanted to beat my ass!" he said.

"Okay... he wouldn't have actually done it he was just angry" Kie looked back toward her parents who walked out of the party presumably to their car.

"Well he doesn't like me so that's nice" JJ sighed. Kie shook his head "he gave you a job he does like you."

"Oh trust me kie I know guys, and I would be mad if my daughter got knocked up by a nobody like me he hates me."

Kie sighs "You're not a-" she shakes her head "You know what let's just not think about my parents and enjoy lunch okay?" she stood up "I don't know about you but I'm feeding for two now and I'm starving."

JJ stood up "I always eat like I'm feeding for two so I'll follow you."
