Longing For A Love Faraway

Once upon a time, so very long ago,
I, too, was young and carefree and idealistic,
With a head full of dreams and a heart full of hope,
And a crush on someone who was simply fantastic.

We’d laugh and we’d talk and we’d walk hand in hand,
Sharing secrets and stories and silly jokes,
And I never imagined that this love would end,
Or that it would leave me feeling so alone.

But as life took us down different paths,
And our dreams and our hopes began to diverge,
We slowly grew apart, and I started to wonder
If our love had been nothing but a passing surge.

But here I am today, years later and wiser,
Thinking of you and the way you made me feel,
And I find myself falling in love all over again,
Longing for a love that is now so far away, and yet so real.

I know that we can never go back in time,
And that our paths may never cross again,
But I hold onto the memories of our love,
