More Than I Was

Author's note: This poem is about my experience with bullies. I've always wanted to write this but I didn't have the right words and now I do. People can put you down but you can get back up. Remember that. Until next time,

-Freya-

I was once weak, helpless, and afraid

Bullies would block my way

Driven by fear, I hid myself away

When my friends would call me to play.

No matter how much I hid

I couldn't escape.

I had two choices, vanish and live in fear....

Or fight back, and challenge my fear.

Tired of being weak, tired of being helpless, tired of being afraid

I chose to move the bullies out of my way.

You sought to bring me down, crashing to my knees

Pretend to be a friend and tear me apart

But all you did, was build me up!

You taught me courage, your insults taught me strength

You called me slut, you called me stupid, you called me whore

And yet, you have made me so much more.

Thus, I bid you ado

For I have nothing more to say to you

But thank you, for getting me ready for round two!

Once, you shoved me to ground

I didn't push back.

Now, now I will strike back

Harder and faster, ready for a second round!

Thank you, for making me stronger and braver

If I see you again, I will not cower, I will not waver!

Thank you, for making me more

So much more, than I was before.
