Jen strutted into my kitchen like she owned the place, slamming her iPad on my counter. "New assignment. Agent Ning Yizhuo. You're up tonight," she declared, showing me a picture of a sweet, unsuspecting Chinese girl.

Ning... where have I heard that name before?

"I thought I'm grounded.I quipped.

"Would you listen first?"

I let out an exaggerated sigh.

"Ning worked closely with Karina, and we found out today that she was regularly in touch with a Naevis."

"A Naevis?! Who?!" I asked. Surely just another of those reckless and clueless alphas. Let's face it, those folks were never the sharpest tools in the shed. But I must admit, Karina's team sure knows how to infiltrate the upper echelons of Black Mamba.

// Alphas: They are tenured Naevises with a reputation for being arrogant and reckless. Mostly gets them in trouble. //

"We're working on finding out who the mole is. Right now, we're not sure whose side the Chinese spy is on."

"Ah, the glamorous life of a hired killer," I sighed dramatically. "I mean, I thought I could relax tonight but I guess I can squeeze in a little midnight mission before bedtime. Just another day in the office, am I right?"

"This is serious, Wy. Karina's dead, and we need to tie up all loose ends. Ning's gotta go." Jen added grimly. I attempted to maintain an air of composure, fully aware that the illustrious Karina Yu was mere steps away, hiding in my room, clad in nothing but a minuscule towel.

As the mental reels spun in my mind, a series of images played out like a thrilling movie. London, a hospital, Agent Irene... and then it hit me like a lightning bolt. Ning. Ah, yes, that's where I remember hearing that name before!

Looks like Little Miss Innocent might be playing both sides.

KOSMO Headquarters | 0

As soon as Jen left, I wasted no time getting out of the lake house. Before my grand exit, I couldn't resist engaging in a little argument with Agent Yu – our usual sparring match. Naturally, I threw in a friendly reminder about the bounty on her head, the spontaneous apartment explosions, and a potential mole in her team. But hey, I conveniently omitted that tiny detail where I specifically knew who it was.

I sat in the back seat of the car, my eyes fixed on the iPad in my hand. I swiped through the pages of the file. She's currently holed up in an abandoned building near the sea docks. It was a perfect location for KOSMO to set up its new headquarters after I blew it up the other day.
