I walked into Rekall, a bar tucked away in the city's heart. The soothing strains of lofi beats washed over me, setting a mellow and chill atmosphere. It provided a rhythmic backdrop to the gentle clinking of glasses and the soft murmur of conversations. The dimly lit room exuded a captivating charm with its exposed brick walls, vintage neon signs casting a soft glow, and a mesmerizing canopy of fairy lights draped from the ceiling.

My gaze scanned the space, searching for the one person who had dominated my thoughts for weeks - Giselle. I had told myself not to text her, but, well, I couldn't resist. What surprised me even more was that she texted me back right away. It was like a jolt of excitement that made my heart race as I rushed over here.

She stood, behind the bar, her dark brown hair cascading gracefully over her shoulders. Giselle's deep brown eyes sparkled with laughter as she engaged in conversation with some guy.

With Karina's absence hanging like a shadow over me, I had no choice but to rely on Giselle, the one familiar face outside the tumultuous worlds of Kosmo and Black Mamba, providing me with a refuge I desperately craved.

"You sure sprinted out of here last time," she remarked like she'd been keeping a close watch on my return.

I let out a nervous chuckle, trying to conceal the butterflies dancing in my stomach, "Well, you know, I figured you were missing my swift exits, so I had to make a grand reentry."

With an air of grace, she poured a beer into a chilled mug and slid it over to me. "On the house," she offered with a wink she so casually delivered. It brought back memories of our first date when she'd rejected me, leaving me flustered and embarrassed. The hurt is still as fresh as new.

I thanked her and took a sip, appreciating the cold liquid's soothing distraction from the whirlwind of emotions within me.

My motives for being here were far from ordinary. Yesterday, I received a call from Autumn, tipping me off that someone had placed a bomb inside Karina's apartment. I had to hurry and drag our asses out as soon as I could.

And just to be safe now considering the recent attempt on my life last night, I've got two Kosmo agents close by. You know, better safe than sorry. That ninja might still be looking to finish me. You'll never know.

Returning my attention to Giselle, who was now engrossed in a conversation with another patron, I found her as captivating as ever. Her eyes sparkled with animation as she spoke, her laughter filling the air. Yet, beneath her alluring exterior, I couldn't help but wonder if there was more to her than meets the eye.

What caught my attention as the night went on was that she seemed to have her eye on me. She excused herself from a conversation she was having with a few people and approached me with a curious glint in her eyes. "So," she began, her tone casual, "Been keeping busy lately?"
