TW: Gruesome fighting

"Alright team. We have just received intel that a new Hydra base has popped up, it seems to be a small base so we are going to stick together and give them hell. Suit up and meet me on the jet in ten."

After Steve's little mission debrief, most of us began to walk to the locker room to get dressed. I hope this mission isn't going to be too crazy or anything. Life has been sailing pretty smoothly since Luke was put away and that was five months ago.

As I was putting my suit on I couldn't help but think about how strange it is that I haven't heard anything from my father. The radio silence is weird, he is usually trying to get me back or kill me.

I jumped slightly when I felt hands land on my waist.

"Hey, sweetheart. What's going on in that pretty little head of yours?"

I sighed as she placed a kiss on the top of my head.

"I just think it's weird I haven't heard from my father. He hasn't taunted me or tried to kill me again, it's just strange."

"Maybe it's a good thing."

Nat zipped up the front of my suit for me.

"Maybe. I just feel like something is coming. I'm not sure."

"Hey, you've been on the run for so much of your life. It can be strange to actually settle down for once but just enjoy it."

I leaned back against Nat and just let her words soak in. I just wish my father was dead so I wouldn't have to worry about him.

"Ok. We have a mission to complete, let's go."

Nat grabbed my hand and led me to the quinjet. Steve was a little mad that we were late but one look from Nat and he was quick to shut up.

As soon as we stepped into the hydra lab/base, they were shooting at us. We all split up taking out as many as we could. The number of soldiers was surreal. Nat and I naturally stayed close to each other as we tried to worry about not getting shot or stabbed.

Remind me to thank Nat for training me for an ungodly amount of hours because I'm sure that right now I would be dead if it wasn't for it.

"I thought this was supposed to be a small base," I spoke into my earpiece.

"It was."

I rolled my eyes at Steve's response, so much for his intel.

As the number of bodies started to pile up and the room started to clear out, I could catch my breath. I watched Nat as she was in hand-to-hand combat with a soldier that looked well-trained.

When she gained the upper hand I smiled at how amazing my girlfriend is, remind me to put a ring on it one day.

My smile instantly dropped when I saw a soldier creeping up behind her with a knife in his hand.

I ran up to her and the soldier decided to lunge at her when she got the previous soldier she was fighting on the ground. I was able to push her out of the way before he could actually stab her but his knife got me instead. It was just a scratch, I'll survive.

I was then fighting the soldier and I had nothing to defend myself with but my hands. Not to mention he was well trained. Why do the good ones always come out at the end?

He tried to make a slash at my throat but I ducked and tackled him into the wall behind him. He was quick to hit the blunt end of the knife into the cut he made on my upper back near my shoulder, causing me to wince and weaken. This gave him the perfect opportunity to turn me and pin me up against the wall.
