When they returned to the Great Tree, a huge number of owls were there on the branches and the platforms, ready to greet the heroes of the dawn. Storm watched as Soren was reunited with his family joyfully. Twilight and Digger were greeted by their new friends, while Gylfie has finally been reunited with her family too.
Storm searched in vain for a sign of her family. I won't find them here, she reminded herself with a sinking heart. Thanks to his stupid traitorous ways, Allomere had killed Storm's parents a few days after she had hatched.
With wishful thinking, Storm steeled her heart and remembered that some expectations leads to disappointment. She looked back at Parzival hugging his family and tried to imagine herself in the same place, tried to convince herself that seeing her friend's joy would be the same as experiencing her own.
With a haze of joy, Parzival realized that his friends had stepped over to join him in his celebration with his family. Then Parzival gazed at where Storm still stood, alone.
She was smiling too, but in the midst of all these family reunions, she looked a little lost, as if unsure whether or not she should be allowed to join them. Parzival's smile wavered for a moment.
Her parents were gone. She would have no reunion here today. When she saw Parzival's face, she smiled wider in an attempt to hide her sadness. But her loneliness and sadness had disappeared as quickly as it first appeared when she saw Uriah and Athos. Storm smiled as Uriah and Athos both wrapped their wings around her and the three of them hugged each other. It wasn't long till she was joined by Parzival and Shard. They're each other's family now.

Everyone has been inside of the Great Tree's throne room. On the throne is King Boron and Queen Barran with their golden helmets. In front of the King Boron and Queen Barran was a cushion with their helmets and war claws (though, Storm's late father's helmet and war claws are there, polished and repaired by Bubo). All of the Guardians bowed down to Storm, Parzival, Shard, Uriah, and Athos as they approached the King and the Queen.
King Boron nodded and as he spoke, his voice echoed through the throne room, "My friends, we are gather here today to shed new light on five new members of the Guardians of the new era we are entering. These new protectors have shown extraordinary promise to us all during the Battle of the Beaks. This doesn't always happen and this is a first, but it will not be the last. I allow and encourage in the short time that I know that these five are as brave, determined, and loyal individuals." The King of the Ga'Hoole Tree smiled at the new members as they walked together side by side till they are standing in front of King Boron and Queen Barran. "I ask you Storm, Parzival, Shard, Uriah, and Athos to never do anything outrageously nor murder, and always to flee treason; also, by no meaning of being cruel, but to give unto them that ask for mercy, upon of forfeiture of their worship and of us, King Boron and Queen Barran for evermore; and always to do other ladies and gentlewomen succor upon the pain of death. Also, no person takes no battles in wrongful quarrel for no law, for no world's goods. Will you do as I ask of all of you?"
"I will." Storm's voice was full of strong determination.
"I will." Parzival's voice was full of strong confidence.
"I will." Shard's voice was sounded with brave strength.
"I will." Uriah sounded both strong and gentle at the same time.
"I will." Athos sounded fiercely loyal and calm.
King Boron turned to the assembled crowd with a sweeping gesture and announced, "Behold! The newest members of the Guardians! Storm! Parzival! Shard! Uriah! And Athos!"
The cheers were deafening. Uriah and Parzival both smiled enthusiastically, while Shard and Athos both smiled in humble acknowledgement. Storm watched on with amazed awe.
Storm stepped back, dazzled, as what looked like all of the owls' cheering rose into the air, flapping up a storm and cheering out joyfully. Storm felt a wash of pride and joy, especially when she stays amongst with her new family.
