James had been struggling to come to terms with the loss of his friend Jessie, who had died during their time travel adventure. It felt like a piece of him was missing, a piece that he would never be able to get back.
One day, James received a message from Jessie's brother, Isaac. They hadn't spoken since the funeral, but Isaac had an urgent request. He explained that he had stumbled upon some new information about the time machine that Jessie and James had used on their ill-fated trip.
Isaac wanted to go back in time to try and save Jessie. James was skeptical, but Isaac was insistent. He had spent countless hours researching and was convinced that he could make it work.
Despite his reservations, James agreed to meet Isaac. They arranged to meet at a remote location, away from prying eyes.
As James approached the meeting point, he couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation. What if this was all just a wild goose chase? What if Isaac had lost his mind?
But as he caught sight of Isaac, he realized that he couldn't turn back now. They were in this together, for better or for worse.
Isaac was already at the meeting spot, tinkering with some strange device. As James got closer, he realized that it was a modified version of the time machine that they had used before.
Isaac explained that he had made several modifications to the machine, which he hoped would allow them to travel back in time and save Jessie.
James was hesitant, but ultimately he couldn't deny the lure of the possibility of seeing his friend again. They climbed into the machine and set the time coordinates for the day before Jessie's death.
As the machine whirred to life, James couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement mixed with fear. What if something went wrong? What if they were stuck in the past forever?
But before he could dwell on these thoughts, the machine transported them through time and space. As they materialized in a lush, prehistoric forest, James knew that they were in for a wild ride.
