The sun was setting on the city, casting an orange glow over the buildings. The streets were empty, except for a few cars that had been abandoned. It was quiet, almost peaceful, but the silence was shattered by a blood-curdling scream.
Two teenagers, Marcus and Ava, were hiding under a car, their hearts racing. They had been running from a pack of velociraptors for what felt like hours. The sound of their claws scratching against the pavement was getting closer and closer.
Ava's hand was shaking as she clutched onto Marcus' shirt. "What are we going to do?" she whispered, tears streaming down her face.
Marcus put a finger to his lips, trying to keep her quiet. He could see the shadows of the raptors getting closer, their sharp teeth glinting in the fading light.
Suddenly, a car alarm went off a few blocks away, causing the raptors to turn their attention to the noise. Marcus grabbed Ava's hand and they ran, trying to put as much distance between them and the raptors as possible.
They ducked into an alleyway, hoping to hide, but they could still hear the raptors in the distance. Ava's breathing was ragged as she leaned against a wall, trying to catch her breath.
"We have to keep moving," Marcus said, trying to sound confident. "We can't stay here."
They crept out of the alleyway, staying close to the buildings. The streets were still empty, but they knew that the raptors could be anywhere.
As they turned a corner, they came face-to-face with a pack of raptors. Marcus pulled Ava back, but it was too late. The raptors had seen them.
The teenagers started to run, but the raptors were faster. They were surrounded in seconds. The raptors circled them, their eyes locked onto their prey.
Marcus and Ava held onto each other, closing their eyes, waiting for the inevitable. But instead of attacking, the raptors suddenly turned and ran in the opposite direction.
The teenagers looked at each other in confusion, but didn't waste any time. They ran as fast as they could in the opposite direction, not stopping until they were sure they were safe.
As they collapsed on the ground, gasping for breath, Marcus looked up at the sky. "What is happening to our city?" he wondered out loud.
Ava didn't have an answer, but they both knew one thing for sure - they couldn't stay in the city any longer. They had to find a way out, and fast.
