It was a day or so after we'd found out Grimmel the Grisly was tracking us and had found Berk. I was still on edge, and Tora was also extremely nervous. But Hiccup apparently had a master plan, he wasn't going to let either Tora and I be involved lest Grimmel is here for us.
But he also decided to bench Toothless, Eclipse, and the other Night Furies just in case as well. I will admit, his plan did make me nervous seeing as he was confronting the most dangerous man in the known world with only a third of his assets present.
And yet, there wasn't much I could do but wait. So I ended up in Tora's hut a few blocks down the street, wallowing in my anxiety while I was sure Hiccup was in danger.
"Tora... I can't do this anymore. I have to help." I told her adamantly, shooting to my feet. Tora also stood from her seat, her face growing at least five shades paler at my words.
She shook her head frantically, "Freya, no. No, you can't. Please, I don't want to lose you-"
I cut her off, already going towards the door, "I know, I know. But I can't let them be killed the same way our parents were."
I burst from the door to Tora's hut, sheathing my sword at my hip as quickly as I could as I ran down the cobblestone road towards Hiccup's hut.
Being as quiet as I could, even with my heart beating in my throat, I crept in through the back door and into the living room where Hiccup was standing, looking through his father's journal and an old map.
I smiled softly to myself, before creeping towards a chest I had sat underneath a chest of drawers as a hiding place.
The creak of the floorboards where I stepped alerted Hiccup and I froze as he spun around, Inferno in hand.
He let out a sigh of relief when he noticed it was only me, "Gods, Freya. You scared me. I thought you were" He paused and realized I shouldn't be there and shook his head, "I thought you were staying at Tora's..."
I pursed my lips, grinning sheepishly, "I-I know. I just couldn't let you do this by yourself. I had to help. Somehow, because I couldn't-"
He pulled me in for a hug and I placed the chest down on the table he'd put the map and journal on, going to hug him back.
"This is dangerous, Freya." He whispered to me and I nodded quickly.
"I know...but at least I know I won't run away this time," I remarked, trying to lighten the atmosphere at least a little.
Hiccup chuckled, shaking his head at me as we pulled apart.
I nodded towards the map and journal on the table, "Looking for something?"
"Yeah.." He admitted, "I was hoping my dad would have some kind of clue as to what we're looking for."
I smiled, "Well, you don't need a clue." I pointed to the chest, "We've got all we need right here...." And then I pointed to myself, "and here."
Hiccup's mouth dropped open in shock, "Are you serious?" He asked me and I nodded, biting my bottom lip to contain my small giggles at his adorable excitement.
"Yep," I told him, "I decided I'll help you. Maybe this can fix everything."
He jumped around in victory for a moment, muttering excited 'Yes!'s before he happily grabbed me and picked me up, swinging me around in his arms.
