The world was silent... almost as if it was watching in quiet. Waiting for something to happen. Up in the inky blackness of the clouds that wafted over the moon. Eclipse and I were hiding. Waiting, just like the earth was. For a signal.
Down on the ship below us, unsuspecting, and completely unprepared for what was to come; a single dragon hunter was patrolling the deck of his ship. One dragon in the cage to his right roared out in frustration at being captured.
In the clouds, Eclipse's ears pricked at the noise as she hissed deep in her throat.
"Not yet girl.." I hushed her through my new and improved flyer's mask. It matched the dragon-scale armor that covered my entire body as well, alongside my cape. Both were designed to match and blend in with Eclipse's scales.
"You know we have to wait for the signal." I reminded her and she grumbled, rolling her eyes in irritation as I patted her head to reassure her, "I promise, this time's gonna be better than last time. I can feel it."
"Quiet!" Came the trapper's angry roar towards the dragon and the two of us watched closely as he banged his fist against the metal grate of the cage.
My eyes narrowed as the tell-tale scent of Zippleback gas traveled from below and up into my nose. The green smoke-like gas started to waft onto the deck and I leaned forwards into Eclipse's saddle as we hovered, knowing that soon Hiccup would send us the signal to get going.
We observed as he walked through the green cloud of gas and caught the attention of the trapper as he got clear of the gas and lit Inferno up.
"W-what are you..." The trapper sputtered nervously glancing over Hiccup in fear as his entire face and body were also covered in Midnight black dragon armor, to match Toothless.
"Shh," Hiccup shushed him, holding a single finger to his lips from his free hand. Toothless joined Hiccup not long after, climbing down the side of one of the cages behind the trapper, his spinal fins spread and glowing a dangerous electric blue.
The trapper gritted his teeth as I watched in anticipation, gripping Eclipse's reins with all my might and muttering, "Come on, come on, come on, Hiccup." Under my breath.
But as soon as the trapper advanced, pulling a sword from his sheath, I sat up straighter, gasping in shock. It seemed our plan wasn't exactly going as we well... planned.
As the trapper attacked Hiccup, he accidentally smashed into one of the crates that were holding a lantern. It then smashed on the deck and caught the Zippleback gas on fire. The gas exploded and my eyes went wide as I watched the scene unfold.
Panic erupted in my chest and I gritted my teeth before nearly deciding to order Eclipse to dive down there already. Regardless of the plan or not. She also seemed to be growing anxious as time moved forward, warbling in concern.
Wingbeats approached me from behind and I looked to my side to see Valka and Cloudjumper now hovering on my left.
"They'll be fine, just wait." She calmed me, but my nervous grip on Eclipse's reins didn't waver in the slightest.
We both watched as Hiccup and Toothless simply walked through the flames, unharmed thanks to the fire-proof dragon scales. I let out a well-needed sigh of relief and Valka chuckled to herself.
The trapper wasn't so keen, however as he screamed as loud as he could, "Ah! You're a demon!"
Hiccup went tense and he began waving his hands back and forth in a 'stop' sort of motion, "Shhhh! Shh, shh, shh! No-No! I'm not a demon! I'm not a demon!" He tried denying frantically, but the trapper didn't believe him in the slightest.
